I say YES. He may not have all the measurable Stats you are looking for. 5'11' do not think he is that Fast or how strong his arm is?. But the guy is a winner like his new La RAM coach Mcvay said. I know he played on a loaded UGA team But let's see what he does in the Pro's. He can sit and learn from Stafford and take over when needed. Who knows may prove to be a diamond in the rough being the 7th QB Drafted and 128 overall.

Sitting and learning will give him a leg up...also being under McVay's tutelage should benefit him.

Not convinced he has the skill set to be a starting NFL Qb but he has proven the doubters wrong before.

That's what they said about him going into college.

McVay really likes him so maybe he has a chance.

I say NO WAY. And I'll lump Bryce Young in with him.

With the possible exception of Drew Brees...the GREAT NFL Quarterbacks come out of a very similar frame:
              *Height: 6'2" to 6'5"
              *Weight: 220 to 240 lbs

              1) Bryce Young hit the lottery. Talented player, but a lot of guys could look good at Alab.
              2) 2x that for Bennett. Great college player. Won't enjoy the game as much after he takes that first big hit.

PS: Atlanta -3 (vs CAROL) looks like a mighty fine bet in Week One.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

Fair points but just to play devil's advocate...until recently, how many smaller QBs have ever been given a real shot?

There is not a list because none or very few got a shot until approx 10-15 years ago with Brees, Wilson etc.

I'd probably bet against Bennett ever being a starting NFL Qb but I think a lot of guys would have done well if given a shot because they didn't fit the mold. There are always outliers.

That's true. Not saying I'd root AGAINST him. Just that history is against him.

I'm a Wisconsin guy. Was really glad he transferred to Wisky. Proved his NCSt coach wrong, and he made it.

Props to Brees/Wilson. I'd say their success tied to a few things:
                      1) Brees was the consummate professional. His preparation and smarts were 2nd to none.
                      2) Wilson had the right mix of scrambling ability and short-passing accuracy. And playing w/ a great defense helped, too.

Just watched Peter King waxing poetic about him and how the Rams think highly of him.

Just wait til that first time Bennett gets blown up in a Pre-season game. Maybe by one of his former Dawg teammates.

Georgia was ALL DEFENSE... certainly not QB's.

When you have a defense... any QB looks 10X better.

Exactly, Shot. I don't know how UGA found all these defensive studs.

                                    Nope.

                                    nothing special about him.

surrounded by incredible talent that masked his deficiencies.

in the Big Boys league the playing field is neutralized and quarterbacks need to be the difference makers.

                                    He is not it.

do not bump if he has One great game.

another thing to consider in my OP. I said where he fits in class of 2023 not whether he will be a great QB.

                                            hahahahaha

i have nothing against the kid, he is a great competitor, but he is more a johnny manziel type athletically in my opinion, maybe an RG3

some brief success but nothing sustained.

                                            johnny was an absolute bust.

RG3 decent for a few years.

                                            may Stetson falls in between.

He'll fit in perfectly as the whole class will be a big ass bust.

Guys play hard for him. There was a noticeable change in the Rams offense last week when Rypien was pulled and Bennett came in. He has that "it" factor from what I can tell. Will that translate to starting QB material? I mean he gets to sit behind Matthew Stafford and learn so he's got a chance.

He could end up like a mini-Brady. Everybody sort of writing him off now that he's gone from a good Georgia team. I will admit that the Georgia Qb's that proceeded him were on some very good teams too and couldn't get it done. This guy makes some really really clutch plays and throws under pressure with the game on the line. I think he's a talent. There will be an adjustment to the pro game for him though where a guy like Burrow stepped right in and kicked a*s. I think the OP might be onto something here.

i still remember the preseason 1998 when ryan leaf looked unstoppable as the chargers QB. (i am a huge chargers fan from their SD days).

we all know how that turned out.

the preseason does not mean jack. defenses are vanilla. they do not show all of their blitz packages ets.

I could see him having a long career as an NFL backup QB and making some decent coin.

What do you think about my note on Bryce Young. I'm on ATL -3, that # might even rise.
I think Falcon win NFC south division. They will play ugly football. Run it down your throat. They can pass just enough to make it work. Best defense in division. The two Arthur's, coach and owner have got the team they want.

For sure. I don't think he's a lock as the future starting QB of the Rams but he's an upgrade at backup over Wolford and could turn into something.

It's amazing that Tampa won that division last year. Understand that Brady had already mentally checked out. One extra year of $$-grab, and he didn't even give Bowles the time of day.

Will be rooting for your Falcons. We'll see how they look on opening day.
