The U.S. Open: Get ready for carnage
This is as brutal a layout as maybe ever in the history of the game. Patrick Reed called it the worst rough he’s ever seen. Jon Rahm said if someone miraculously finishes under par they’ll win by “several shots.” In three US Opens played there, just two players have ever finished under par and that was in soft conditions in 84. Hale Irwin won in 74 at +7 and Geoff Ogilvy in ‘06 at +5. Breezy, cool and dry conditions are forecast this week. Fairways are very narrow, rough is very high, course is very long, and greens are very undulated and complex.

In other words, if you like seeing grown men struggle, this is your week. And it’s why betting this Open is so tough. DJ the obvious favorite but you can shoot 80 so easily here.

So who's the most accurate to dial in? I don't really think it's DJ, is it? Seems made for an underdog to come in and be dialed in.

What about Paul Casey? Guy is still due to get one and he's pretty steady and accurate.

If you’re looking for a super long shot, Chez Reavie. Near the top in accuracy and finished 3rd last week and at Open last year.

Among the faves, DJ is still prolly the best play given how strong he has been of late. Just don’t like playing odds that low (8-1) on this tough a course. I’m more inclined to put a bet on Berger or Schauffele who are two guys I really like this week and offer good value. Also like Simpson’s tee-to-Green game.

Soooo, Lefty not an option here?

              I'm in huge.....

Somebody bet $45,000 on Phil Mickelson to win U.S. Open, and the payout would be astronomical

This is the only major Lefty has never won. Last time Lefty was at Winged Foot, in 2006, he had the lead on the 72nd hole.

              All he needed was a 4 to win, a 5 for a playoff. He shot a 6.

Lefty has been 2nd at the US Open 6 times, that's a record, but if you look at his last 6 US Open starts, Lefty hasn't placed better than a tie for 28th.

The only players who don't whine about majors being tough are DJ and Koepka and they are always in contention. Most of it is in their heads.

Hit the fairways and stop complaining.

DJ won the US Open in 2016 on arguably the second-toughest course in the world, Oakmont. So I expect him to be there on Sunday. I'd be shocked if he wasn't. Reed is another guy who seems to play good on tough layouts.

                                  Over 84.5 - 135 on 5Dimes.

See this is where I wish Sports Books let me buy like 3 Strokes.

Get the line to 81.5 at -500 and bet like $2500 to win $500.

There have been 2 tourneys at difficult courses since the restart. Rahm has won both of them.
