He's been racing since he was 16 years old. The last 6-7 years he's been racing in NASCAR's X-Finity Series as well as the Cup series, so yes people that follow NASCAR know who he is. If you don't follow NASCAR i don't think you would know him...

Thank you for the information. I think you are right. Yes, I haven’t followed really much since the early 2000’s. Passive viewer at best. Mostly when there isn’t much on- like now. Good or bad, all of this has elevated his profile.

As if the angry opinion of those who had never even heard of Bubba before this makes one iota of difference to NASCAR, race fans, Petty, or the the TV ratings.
