It's just crazy though. You aren't just chasing down a shoplifter. You are now chasing down someone who's willing to not just run away from some out of shape box store manager, but to also run from sirens and lights.
So now some young punks with no record looking for gang initiations, or any other foolish citizen for that matter, could be thinking that if they just drive cool and ignore the officer behind them that the cops will maybe just give up.
If they televised the evading of the cops, they should publicize throwing the book at her later, charging her for those resources, etc.
They may be right, and they may just not have the time of day for little bullshit, but to declare someone who is running from the cops to not be a public threat is a whole new level of slacking.
It's like the cop who let's the buzzed driver go; it's all fine until someone gets hurt. Then it goes back to whether or not they should have let him go.
In my opinion it is shortsighted and the cops are asking for trouble with this type of televised behavior.
