San Miguel de Allende. It's like 3.5 hours from Mexico City. Was supposed to fly to Newark but between Jose causing problems up there and the earthquake here, I rerouted. They say some runways got damaged here.

I'm not sure about Cuernavaca, I hope your friends are ok. About the shaking, I think the problem for Mexico City is that it is built on a dried lake bed and that for some reason amplifies the effect of the quake.
The wierd thing about today is that it happen on the same day of the year as the big 1985 quake. In fact September 19th is a very common day for businesses, schools, goverment offices, etc. to do earthquake safety drills. So this morning, a lot of people practiced and then a few hours later it hit.
As for where I am at, everyone just felt a little dizzy and the cord on the ceiling fan was wobbling back and forth for bit.

I lived through this and experienced it first hand.. Been thru many of them living here in California since I was a little kid but nothing as bad as the Northridge quake... They still get me rattled every time they happen today..

She's okay but the city got hit too. That is amazing that this earthquake happened on the same day. I heard kids were practicing and then had to do the real thing. That is creepy. Some pics from her Facebook.
