Dont need a lock smith. We drive a snatch truck. I can have the car out of the driveway in 30 to 60 seconds tops. The only ones that are really tough are big trucks like an F-350 or bigger. 4wd takes a little longer as well. Small 4wd we just lift and drag to the street or put on dollies. Dollies take a couple of minutes to put on, but make very little noise. After on the dolly I can push it out of the driveway by hand They also come in handy when the car is blocked in. I can move it in any direction, then hook the wench up to it and pull it to the truck.

I dont need a key to get into a vehicle either. I have a little tool that looks like a blood pressure cuff that I wedge into the door and can pry most doors open 3 to 6 inches. When I do that I have another tool that I stick in and pull the door handle or pull the lock up. Takes about a minute cause I am still slow with it.

Funny story I have about repo cars. The finance company will have a secure yard to store all their repos. They then call a carhauler in to ship 9-10 of their repos to an auto auction. I back hauled a load of repos for HSBC to the auto auction in Los Angeles from Freemont, CA. I was leaving the HSBC yard and a Ford F-150 pulls along side of me and starts honking their horn trying to get my attention. After about 5 miles I pull over thinking one of my cars are on fire or falling off the trailer. This dude offers me $500 for the Ford Explorer I have on my trailer. It turns out it was his and they repoed it from his work and he thought I could sell it back to him. I told him to fu(k off and kept rolling.
That is a pretty good video, but I can do it with the truck just as fast as they did it with the keys.

Most of the time that I have talked with the owner/debtor once they see it hooked to my truck they will give me the keys in exchange for letting them get their stuff out. I drive alot of the cars back to the lot.

#1 Find a repo company in your area and go in and ask if they are hiring. If not you may have to do free on the job training until you prove yourself. The other thing is to find a repo man that needs a rider. Again you may have to volunteer your time for a while, but like I said its not that bad a gig and once your getting paid you will make decent cash. #2 make sure they have good equiptment and good clients. That makes all the difference between easy money and no money and hard work. You wont get rich, but decent pay and work your own hours. I am lucky I am getting paid while I am learning to do this. I wont do this forever, but right now I am looking for something at night and it beats most other night jobs in my area.

The office does that research for us and puts it on the repo order for us. All that info can be found by running the VIN# 90% of the time they have it right.

So, I show up for work Saturday night and the driver I have been working with decided not to work. The owner gave me my own route and I have done 6 repos since Saturday night. I had a cop pull his gun on me while I was repoing his truck. That is the most excitement that I have had. So for the count...1 knife and 1 gun pulled on me. The knife was a little scary cause the dude was about 6' 13" and 400lbs. I knew the cop was home and there was a chance he would come out.

I had to take the night off tonight. Working by myself the paper work has been slowing me down at the end of the night and I have been working about 12 hours a night 7pm to 7 am. I have to cut that time down to about 10 hours tops. 3 more and I will make over $1000 (cash) my first week. Like I said it will be a lot better once I am getting things down to under 10 hours a night 8 would be even better.

BTW I let the cop keep his truck for 1 day. He promised to make his payment first thing in the AM. He said if he didnt I could come by the next day and he would drive it to the repo lot with me. I figured that it was a fair deal. I work about 20% of my accounts in his county and its good to have a cop on your side when you need some cop help. He made his payment the next day and called me to thank me for not taking his shit. His gun, hat, bullet proof vest and other cop shit were all in the truck.

All you have to do is look under the car. But when I am repoing out of a driveway the car is going to be 1 of two ways. Back in on pulled in. Either way I am getting the car out. It may drag it and screech the tires, but I can change positions once I am clear or just pop it in neutral.

                            Most trucks.

As long as I dont jerk it I wont mess up the axle.

If I thnk I could do damage to the vehicle, I will hook up and lift it then just go knock on the door and ask for the keys. Not my favorite thing to do, but you can usually tell when you will have trouble door knocking. If they hassle me I will pull it and take a chance. IF I have the time I will put the dollies on, but that is a bitch when your working alone.

There are several jobs that, if you do them, no matter how much money you make, and whether or not you even own the damn company, you will be looked at by most as trash.

                              Repo man is one.

and you think gambler is not?

I couldn't care less. It is not the best job I have ever had, then again I like a lot about what I do. The people that dont like the repo man are the ones that dont pay their bills. If you pay your bills the only time you will think about him is when you see the show on tv or YouTube.

I've never thought of a repo man as trash! That statement doesn't even make sense. The trash is the coksukers not paying their bills.

I used to sell cars. I always dealt with the bad credit people, they would take what you could get them in. But every now & then you would have the assholes that wanted the world but their credit was HORRIBLE and they tried to act like they were better than me. They'd want this car at this payment, like they could choose or something! I'd say "Sure, I can do that. How much money you putting down?" They'd be all were not puttin any money down. Id tell them I cant unless they put about $3-5,000 down. Then when they say they don't have that, I'd say "You should easily have at least $2-$3000 to put down. What do you spend your money on? I see here it's definitely not paying your bills!" as I look through their credit report

I helped a guy out some who was a repo man. So I was never day to day in that business. But I did work for a guy who, let me tell ya. He was a short little jew with a french name who lived in Costa Rica for 15 years & could speak fluent Spanish. He was a con artist from hell. He had scammed people out of their life savings in his past. Now hes hiding out in the mountains of East TN so I get hooked up with him.

He has these 2 little buy here-pay here car lots, the kind of cars that aren't worth shit, somebody pays 6 weeks on them & you have your money but we'd repo them & sell them again. The most beautiful legal ripoff ever. I managed one lot but there was another one down between here & Knoxville & he wanted me to go down there & run it because our other guy was sick. I didnt know any of those broke ass customers down there but all I had to do was take their payment, no big deal.

It was on a Friday. Id never been to this lot before. It was in the middle of BFE and he had a singlewide trailer with a couple desks and a couch for the office. This chick comes in & asks where the regular guy is. I told her he was sick, had a cold or something and I was filling in from the Tri-city office. To find out, Sam had been telling the boss that this chic was late but would have the money, he had talked to her, & would pay double the next week & she'd blow him for the payment. When Sam had some extra dough (hardly ever) he would make her payment.

I fuked the shit out of her & told her not to worry about 2 payments, they were taken care of!!!! Then let Sammy work that shit out! He couldn't tell on me because I knew his fukin scam now. Thats what the bastard gets for layin out & making me drive to that shithole town. She was amazing!

My sister works for a credit union and on occassions she has had to play the part of a repoman. She has to take her boyfriend with her because of all the threats from angry people when their cars are being repossesed. I find it amazing that people get so mean and mad when they are the one's not living up to the contract and making payments. We sure live in a backwards world at times. I worked for a car rental company years ago and had my fair share of taking cars back that customers basically refused to return and pay for. My job was a little easier in that we had an extra set of keys for our rentals so all we had to do was get in the car and go.

Well, its a good line of work if you aren't scared of insane people and you don't live in Texas. I guess you can shoot at anyone that trespasses on someones property in Texas legally. So knowing someone could be shooting at you while your taking there doesn't sound fun to me.

I worked in Auto finance before I did the repo and we actually used this company to do our dirty work. Then when I was doing repo's everyone wanted to talk about that.

That car they took was full of drugs and money. The guy that killed him was going to be killed himself if he didnt get the car back with the stuff in it.

I came to the conclusion that the business is just to risky after I was run over doing a repo and had to have knee surgery.

It was fun and more of an adrenalin rush than you could ever imagine.

Twice I let chicks keep their car. Amazing what they will do to keep their car's! I just wrote on my report the car was not there and Knocked on door, no answer.

I also let a couple keep their car once, they gave me close the amount I quoted them that it was going to cost them to redeem it from the lot 50miles away. They said they were paying it off the next day and showed me a wad of money. I quickly told them they could pay me $350 now for my time and gas and just pay their car off tomorrow or Drive 50 miles each way and pay the repo company I worked for. I also told them to keep it in the garage if they didnt pay it the next day.
