    2009: A Gambler's Odyssey
Jan 2009: Borrowed money for the first time ever to fund accounts. Borrowed $4,000 and earned it back, paid off the loan, and still had $11,154 thanks to college hoops. Cashed out $5,000 and then lost the remaining $6,000 (house money) due to a horrible NCAA tourney and an "all-in" play of $1,200 that lost. Net result: + $5,000

April 2009: Deposited $550, turned it into $1,200, but lost it all on an "all-in" play. Net result: -$550

August 2009: Borrowed $3,750 and it steadily eroded to $2,000 thanks to poor NCAA football picks. Went "all-in" and lost. Net result: -$3,750

Net result for year so far: +$700

Today: borrowed $3,500 and deposited it into the Greek and Bookmaker

You're actually taking out loans to gamble with?

Am I the only one that thinks that's crazy?

If I used my own money my wife would notice, and I would have to hear about it. Gamblers do what gamblers must. I am proud to gamble, I am proud of the choices I have made. When I lose, it was because I was either too lazy to do the proper work or else too impatient to get my losses back methodically.

But this I vow: over the next two months I will not place a wager that hasn't been bled and sweat over. My best work is still to come.

        Let the games begin.

This will end pretty badly. I can see some sort of "all in" play that will take your remaining funds. I hope I am wrong though. Best of luck the rest of the year Machine

Troll, I had a horrible NCAA conf tourney and final tourney. That's how I lost the $6K of house money, and I stated so. But I also didn't work hard enough then.

I have never in my life worked harder than I did in Jan/Feb. I didn't even read the discussions on here, I just capped and posted. If you work hard enough, you can always win. I know that about sports. Unlike any other form of gambling (besides poker) you can beat sports.

Wow, talk about credibility...I just noticed that you erased your avatar signature. Earlier tonight it said "Angels +1.5". How pathetic that you would try to digitally lie to a bunch of digital people whom you don't even know.

Keep it real, G. Keep it real like me. We gamble, alot of times we lose. But we can also win if we work hard. G, even though you're a pathetic troll, I'm rooting for your sorry ass to win money if you truly bet. I am always on the side of a gambler.

Acarmelo, thanks for the "concern." Fortunately some of us have day jobs that pay pretty well. A couple of $3K loans aren't going to break the bank. I'm mainly using them to mask my hobby from a "significant other" who thinks all gambling is bad.

Whether the gambling goes good or bad, my loans will be paid off shortly. But I understand your general points, although most of them are common sense.

G, you got caught and called out. Don't worry though, I don't know you in real life. Just keep doing your thing, and I'll keep laughing. I'm a laughingstock myself, but at least I know it.

you see how it works when the record says 2-0...then after the angels loss says 2-1, that shows the loss...when the avatar says 10/20 lost what do you think that means...you are drinking wayyyyy to much...

Seriously...let me ask you a question when you did win for a month last January and people were sucking up to you... could you ever imagine what a train wreck you would turn out to be?

"Respected" on a sports forum. If you actually think that's possible, that says it all. The best handicapping I could ever do would be to predict what type of menial manservant you are in real life. You cling to some pipe dream of being a big-time high roller commanding respect, when what you should be doing is what we should all be doing: sharpening the pencil and working.

Troll, post here for fun. Don't take it any more seriously than that.

I never claim to be a big time roller... And never want to be...but unlike you my two biggest bets this year I won... 300 on Alabama against ole miss... and 200 on usc when they beat pennst in rose bowl...

would you like me to copy and paste a few of your picks? Like your 1100 to win 300 parlay loss?

My average bet is between 10 and 100...you are just plain reckless..

I am still proud of that parlay, it was a good bet but I got bit by a key injury. Shit happens. I would rather have the balls to risk big, than to bet cracker jacks and troll a website all day.

Mods, is there an ignore function I can use on this turd?

Don't worry I thought you had passed out... I am done talking to you...but when you say something false and are so unaware what is going on...I do respond!
And as far as my cracker jack bets go... That is the amount I choose to bet... I could bet more...but I have no urge to win or lose a ton of money... Alot easier to recover from a few 20-50 bets than 1100 to win 300 parlays that lose with all -900 favorites..bye!

I just see no point in betting $50. Granted, you will never feel my anguish of losing a $1K or $2K bet, but you will also never feel the joy of winning $11K. I've experienced both and am happy for it.

Troll, I am willing to never post a comment to you again and if you would do the same. But I know you are incapable of leaving me alone. It's because without my threads, no one would ever see your posts. That is a problem for a pathetic person like you. You don't have to be that way, but you choose it.

Keep it under your mattress? You're +$700 on the year(disregarding interest, which may very well have you in the red), but it seems you still have an outstanding loan of $3750... how the hell do you plan on paying this without the wife finding out? By doubling your last loan gambling in short enough time that the interest doesn't kill you?
