Steelers, the first two that come to mind are:

1) The French Connection. Go back and watch that movie. Tell me that it's not great.
2) Hoosiers. Such a classic film. It really held up over time.

Just a few more reflections:

1) Kevin Costner said that Gene was the best actor he ever worked with.
2) There was a real-life grit to him. Didn't seem so far removed from the Average Guy.
3) Hadn't been in a movie in twenty years. Mostly secluded, there are very few photos of Gene from the L20 years.

Gene Hackman was truly one of the greatest actors of all time. His death, at a very advanced age, seems very suspicious.

Mississippi Burning and The French Connection were 2 of my fav's of his. The other was his role in The Bird Cage

Can you imagine sending many of these wimps at 16 to the military? In all honesty though- I wouldn’t have been ready for that at 16.

Great actor. One of the first guys I knew because of his role in Superman.

Ya, a lot of things are very odd for just a "gas leak" from what I heard on the news. I don't know my dad told me about his death said it was a gas leak in their home. Then I hear on the news that they found prescription pills spilled all over, him in his wife were found in two different spots, the front door wasn't closed all the way, and the grounds guy took 2 weeks to report he hadn't seen them. Who knows if all that is true but it sure sounds like is way more than a gas leak to me.

Yeah I read the Investigators looked into the gas leak theory and said there didn't appear to be one. I didn't hear about the pills but that is friggin weird.

They said a dead dog was found in the closet? what the hell went on their mate. Unsolved Mysteries would have loved this story.

With the plot thickening with more and more weird reports by the day unfortunately Mr. Hackman might play another role before it is all said and done. Like I said before this has all the makings of a made for TV Dateline episode.

I heard the dead dog was in a crate and probably died from lack of water after the humans died and there was no one to let the dog loose. The other 2 dogs were not crated.

RIP to him and his wife. My initial thought was murder-suicide or mutual suicide. You would think they’ll find out with toxicology reports. They both take pills and die in their sleep. I don’t think anyone else had a hand in this. No signs of struggle, no forced entry, nothing stolen. Inside job.

Absolutely the stories bizarre enough to make a Dateline episode. There's been a few celebrity deaths like that.

There are several reasons for a dog to be in a crate. Training. Felt comfortable inside. Needed a quiet place to chill from the other two. Who knows.
