*Mahomes went 10th in that draft.
...Myles Garrett went #1 overall to the Browns.
...Mitch Trubisky went #2 overall to the Bears. LOL, how many jobs were lost based on that selection?
...Christian McCaffrey went #8 to Carolina.
If re-drafted today, Mahomes would obviously go #1. Nobody would complain about Garrett's production. McCaffrey has had a good career for a RB, albeit with injury asterisks.
TJ Watt did go #30 in this draft. So, maybe that was the steal of the draft (on top of Mahomes).

Not long ago, Desean Watson was considered a steal from this draft as well...

How the worm has turned on that one, Jake. He might rate lowest in the league on the Salary-to-Production ratio.

I will put some more notes in here b4 kickoff. But I wanted to post one historical fact:
*Consider the 1960s Packers and the 1970s Steelers.
...They won a lot of championships. What happened when they got too old?
...The decline was not gradual. It was more like falling off a cliff.
...I know the Chef track record. People feel so comfortable backing them. Just saying.

18/3 is 6

Stat from the Lawrence SB Playbook:
That’s because the team with the most total yards in a Super Bowl
game is 43-15 SU. The team with the most rushing yards is 43-14
SU (the Patriots and the Falcons each rushed for 104 yards in Super
Bowl XLI).

Philly hit the century mark in 19 of their 20 games on the
ground and is 10-2 SU and 9-3 ATS in games when it has the rushing
advantage. Conversely, KC was outrushed in 10 games this season.

This nugget, per Andy Iskoe of The Logical Approach: Since 1990,
the Super Bowl team with the better regular season record is 11-14
SU, with 8 of the 32 Super Bowls since 1990 matching teams with
identical regular season records.
But the 25 Super Bowl teams with the better overall record are just
5-19-1 ATS (20%), including a jaw-dropping 5-13 SU and 1-17 ATS
since 2004. That, in itself, is mighty strong.
Edge: Eagles

Not sure how that's at all relevant.
The Packers you reference did not make a Super Bowl and lose. Nor did those Steelers. Any decline mentioned was NOT in the Super Bowls.

I'm saying that the drop-off is more sudden than people think. To your point, it might NOT be in this Super Bowl.
I've expressed my anti-Chef opinion. I think they're quite over-rated. Count up how many CLOSE wins they've had, and think about whether that's at least some bit of good fortune.

magpie, just for clarity. No disrespect, I understand your perspective.
On this site opinions are expressed. When a team is having historic success, people tend to think that it will continue for some time. In the case of the Chefs I mentioned that their salary-cap is skewed very heavily toward Mahomes/Kelce/Jones.

Some more Chef notes:
*7th year of Mahomes starting.
...Fifth SB appearance for Mahomes. 3-1 SU so far. Lost to the Bucs.
...Two AFC losses: Loss vs NewEng when Jones was off-sides. Other loss was by 3 vs CIN/Burrow.
*My point (above) about the Chief longevity:
...Seven years of success is a long run.
...Chiefs trying to break history by winning a 3rd straight SB.
...Brady's success w/ New Eng was impressive. Not quite as concentrated in a limited # of years.
