(ESPN is truly a Mickey Mouse organization, did you see what I just did there)?

I think ESPN is starting to realize that paying people millions a year to do something which thousands of people can do is no way to run a business.

Yes sir. Most broadcast graduates take jobs for $60k or less in smaller markets and work their way through the ranks. Their strategy to fall over former athletes and pretty girls and pay them millions has been insane. There is much better and more informed actual broadcasters out there.

Spot on DrunkHorsePlayer. ESPN has essentially given all the money to College Football and the NFL. Because of this they always boast the single highest rated cable event of the year. They also benefit greatly from every health club in America just putting ESPN on by default. Much like how every health clinic in America just by default shows The Price is Right. As of now, ESPN forks out and pimps out Stephen A Smith and Pat McAfee. Some may forget this, but Skip left First Take in large part because Stephen A was always on the road for ESPN once he signed his first major contract with them. It really took away from First Take with it just being Cari Champion and Skip in studio on the reg... Which btw, how much longer will Shannon Sharpe stay on board as well? He's only in studio 3 days a week at max. His own Podcast and show "NightCap" are light years better than First Take... And one last thing back to the TNT NBA crew. They need to just rent out a studio and get it live on YouTube. Do a watch along like Joe Rogan Fight Companion. We all tune in just for the shit talking. More shit talking please

Worse than that is ESPN has no clue on how to analyze and assess the talent they do have.
Tirico for instance who I like a lot, ESPN lost him to NBC, the list is endless.

I don't need play-by-play announcers during a game. I can see that the pass was incomplete. I can see that it was a home run. I can see that they just hit a three-pointer. I usually hit the mute button. Never understood why fans want announcers yammering away during the game.

There was a great quote last week from one of the MLB bloggers I speak with, he said "Since when did Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN become the David Suskind Show"

For the young millennials out there (and you know who you are) David Suskind hosted a talk show in the 60's.

And he's right, SNB on ESPN is like a talk show that goes absolutely nowhere.

I've told you this 100 times at least, I learned a lot from the old-time bookies like 'Buzzy the Bookie" and so forth.
Buzzy was 50 when I was 20, so he had a ton of great stories from when he was a kid in the 1930's.
The old timers have all the best stories from the 30's and 40's, because they were kids then, they were there.
                                          God Bless Old Timers.
My dad had some great stories from the 1950's and so on, so I write about their stories as like I was there, even though I wasn't...

Thanks for the love Jaker, appreciate you brother.

They both were married to spouses that went to FSu. That alone should have gotten them both fired. Bad choices.
