Why??? I'm rooting for them but there's no value on them. It's a team with a bunch of prima donas who are prone to injuries. First bailout... Kawhi... and more will follow. I hope the best for him but I would not put money on Embid to finish the whole tournament.

The way you've already allocated the winnings as if it's a foregone conclusion should have you a little worried.. This isn't 1992, there could be some hiccups. Counting your chickens this early has humbled many a gambler.

Hate to be a downer but...

        I hope for 2 things.

        1. You win your bet.

        2. You never bet a 1-4 shot ever again.

That juice is death valley and not even in the long run.
Hopefully you get through it .

        Good Luck!

Bets like that scare me too but if you think Team USA has a greater than 80% chance of winning then there is value at -390.

Embiid isn't gonna score 60/game come on. Besides that he's injury prone and heavily dependent on free throws. I don't know if he necessarily gets all the calls in international play

I'm not too thrilled with USA roster either. Lot of old guys whose best skills are iso play and you need great team play to win IMO

They are not invincible anymore either. Remember they lost to France in group play last olympics. Can easily happen again at a worse stage

And they barely eeked past the Select team in a scrimmage. Granted, they likely lacked a fire in their belly, considering it was just a tune-up, and against fellow Americans, but you'd expect the sheer talent alone would be enough to create some distance on the scoreboard, even in a lackadaisical effort.

To be honest as a country we should be more than those odds. Kawhi should of never been on the team. He was on the team because of his D. Glad we can add my guy White. Grant Hill must of owed Kawhi agent something. We will see who's still can play at the end if we our there. Most of these guy just came back from some island. If our big guys can stay heathy we should take it.

Buff, I'll be looking fwd to the tournament. You mentioned the big-guys. The opposing teams have several big-guys who can challenge the American bigs.

That's juvenile and downright nasty, suggesting that Kawhi's penis is the reason he was on the team.

What are you, some kind of mental patient?

Seeing the humorous interpretation of things is a gift you should never take for granted.

Humor gets us through a lot .

Of course we root for Agenda to cash his ticket.

STR, sounds like you've seen a few 2/5 Favorites in your day. They do come up short. Sometimes the horse just isn't interested.

Too many moving parts or circumstances that can effect any team, player, or horse that we all never fully mix in until after we make the bet.
That is what usually upends the play if it losses.

Sure hope he wins though. Rooting for him.

I barely follow any of them these days Chucky. Full disclousure, I put so much time into training and handicapping for claims and buying horses, not betting, that I know how much it takes for me to do it RIGHT. Because I simply do not have the required time to do it right, for the most part, I just don't.
I meet my old school friends once, twice a year and we bet the card but I typically risk peanuts .

It is impossible to truly know how much work is involved to be your best, then know you cannot possibly match that workload, and still go bet any real money. I guess I have so darn much respect for the process, I don't want to 1/2 ass it. And that's all I'd be doing.

Rarely make a sports play other than the NFL. I do put in the time there but it's week to week so I can do that for 4-5 months at a time.

When it comes to the track, I really enjoy the Questions and Answers thread I have in the horse section. I spend time in there trying to explain, help, or whatever to anyone that wants it. I am always available for a question and have probably answered several thousand at this point. I love to teach or help people see things they never noticed before. That makes them better and I stay up to date with racing through there questions. It's a win/win Chucky.

There are a few players in there that follow closly and play daily. They are pretty darn good Chucky. If interested, I would keep an eye on them.

If I did play, Saratoga would be #1 on my list. From there, I know Maryland racing blindfolded after my time there.

But until I turn my business over to my son, which is closer than it is further away, I'll stay very seletive if/ when I play, and probably make 2 maybe 3 serious plays a year on average.

I have kept score of every play, every year, on every sport since 1980. Fun to look back but it is condensed year to year so I don't see every play. Best part of that is you only remember the great ones.

For a subforum buried near the bottom of the list, a lot of people apparently see it and if you are new, there are 13 years of Q and A's there for anyone to read. Some BS sprinkled in as well, but it's the racetrack. Wouldn't expect anything less. Lolol.

After the first quarter and particularly the second half in the Canada friendly, they looked pretty good. And Canada, for anyone not paying attention, is loaded with NBA players. I was surprised while watching that I knew pretty much everyone, and I may or may not have known that MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous Alexander is Canadian. So this was a real test and they looked good. Played the right way, maybe even too unselfish, and they seem to have adapted to the more physical style of the international game. I’m sure they will face more tough tests, but Canada has the second best odds to win gold and the US ran away with this one, so I think this is a pretty good indicator that the US is dialed in and ready to get this thing done. And I don’t know what these places had when our friend the thread starter took his -390, but I’m seeing -470 at FD and -500 at SuperBook, so our guy got great value regardless of whether you believe in laying -390 or not

It will be a winner and as several posters on here say, "There is no juice on winners." Who will be be the Silver Medalist? Now that's a great question. France no doubt will be playing for a medal. Host country always finds their niche at the Olympics. I expect French soccer to be playing for a medal as well.

Lolol.
                                          Thx, rd. Great reply.

You are so right. Handicapping races correctly takes a lot of work. It's a lot more than just "the 2-horse looks good."
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

France no doubt will be playing for a medal. Host country always finds their niche at the Olympics. I expect French soccer to be playing for a medal as well.
It's tough to call early due to the random draw for knockout games, but I think silver and bronze medals both come from Group A teams.

Just saw Durant misses practice, again. These guys are too old. uSA should’ve picked younger players.

France will be tough at home on small court with Wemby and GoBert taking up all that space.
Off shooting night from guard or two and they can easily go down.
