    NFL Draft In-Game discussion
well, NFL is just around the corner and so many questions as to what will happen tonight.

Will the Raiders, Broncos and Vikings make a deal to get a QB or will Washington and New England pick a QB?

Will the top 3 picks be QB's?

Will it be a non event for the most part, with maybe just one deal or will there be some major news?

    T minus 2 hours.

    1. Caleb Williams
    2. Jayden Daniels
    3. Drake Maye

These should be the top 3.

pretty predictable so far. Maybe now something will happen?

Who takes McCarthey? Harbaugh (Chargers' head coach) says he's the best QB in the draft.

I have been eligible for the NFL draft since the mid 80's

If I don't get selected again this year I'm considering hanging it up

Next year's draft will feature a lot of college stiffs.

Reminds me when Washington picked both RG3 and Cousins in the first round.

Kirk was drafted in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL draft (#102 overall) by Washington.

sorry. meant to say the same draft.

Thinking about more, its similar to what happened a few years ago when GB drafted Love. No one saw it coming and it seems to have been a good call. Time will tell.

I was higher on Penix than most going in and Atlanta picking him on the heels of signing Cousins for 4 years $180 million was very strange....However, I think Atlanta will move on from Cousins after 2 years(either trading him or moving on and taking the dead cap hit). I do think this will serve Penix well in the long run sitting for a couple of years and learning the system inside and out.

Mahomes sat for a year behind Smith, Love sat for 3-4 years behind Rodgers...there are others that I'm forgetting but having a young QB sit and learn for at least a year puts them in a better position to succeed.

No one should be shocked at the Penix pick. You realize Cousins is a stop-gap rental, right?

If Penix truly is a franchise quarterback, then your long term future is secured at the most important position.

Well you at least stuck your neck out and called it right even though it hasn't been proven yet.

My opinion is that penix is not an NFL QB.

                                              Let's see what happens.

Agreed. Looks to be a great move for the long term but not so much for 2024 or 2025.

My opinion is that penix is not an NFL QB.

                                                  Let's see what happens.
Disagree laker but we shall see down the line.

Penix turned a perennially awful Indiana program into a top 15 team and then turned around a 4-8 Washington team to 25 wins the past 2 seasons. He not only wins but completely turns programs around. I also like his intangibles and everything I have heard about how he goes about his business.

In summary, I think he is a winner and does everything in his power to do so.

Oh one other thing I like about him is he has faced a lot of adversity(injury) and come through it with flying colors. Many of the top QBs are coddled from a young age and never faced any kind of adversity going into the NFL.

Next year's draft will feature a lot of college stiffs.

It was the right call, and an impressive call.
                                                        Huh ???

If Cousins is hurt, you're screwed anyway

The reason you sign Cousins is you're going all-in. Your window to win is NOW. So you add a piece that contributes NOW

It was a total waste of a TOP TEN PICK

And by the way how old will Penix be if/when he starts? 30 ???

I never made a bet. I'm not in a hurry given the odds, they're not even giving plus money.

It's not necessarily a "win now" kind of pick for the Falcons but they're still in good position to challenge for the division. It's a young team and if Penix is the guy in a year or two, they could still have a lot of the same nucleus in place.

NFL GM's are obsessed with landing a franchise quarterback and the thought of one slipping by keeps them up at night. I guess they believe in Penix. It's not a crazy thought, he flourished at two different schools in two different leagues and playing in a dome seems ideal for his uncanny accuracy.

As for all the money spent on Cousins, I dunno, I can't speak to that... they must not have thought Penix would fall? Otherwise that money would be better spent elsewhere.
