#39As of right now, it is highly possible that both Georgia v Texas happens twice and Oregon v Ohio State happens twice. Once in the regular season and once for the conference championship. Even if Ohio State and Georgia win both matchups I don't see either team's odds being much different on the day the playoffs from the current pre-season odds... Florida State and LSU would be decent pre-season odds. Notre Dame also, but since they can not be a top 4 seed they are then put at a disadvantageComment -

*In Football, you used to play each team H2H.
*In Bask, you played each team Hm/Away.
Now, these Conferences are really leagues. You can't possibly play each team. And they aren't even setting up Regional pods.
Mark my words. One of these SEC teams is going to wind up 9-3 and lobby to get into the Final 12 b/c of Schedule Strength.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#41The team you are referring to Chucky, I hope will be my Tennessee Volunteers.. Who for some reason play 4 straight SEC home games in October to first of November... I said many years ago when the European Super Leaugue tried to form that one day college football would do the same. Every Saturday would be a "playoff game." Have Bama vs USC, Michigan v Texas, Tennessee v Ohio State etc.. I do wonder will we get that eventually? I have heard that the Chancellors and Presidents will fight like hell to prevent trams like Vandy, Indiana, Northwestern from getting kicked out of the conference. Maybe one day, it is just straight each team for themselves. No conferences, no set rivals, just pure Greenbacks flowing in.Comment -

I've always thought that Football should have an ACADEMIC Conference similar to the Ivy League. And geography doesn't seem to matter anymore. What about NWern/Stanford/Duke/Vandy to form their own Conference?Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

1) NEB is getting a ton of talk in the pre-season. Andy Staples think they can be 7-0 heading into the game @OhioSt. Their early season schedule is manageable. If they start 7-0, that means they have a chance to get to 10 wins, which would likely put them in the Top 12.
2) VATech really has a chance to get to the ACC Title game. Who is going to represent the ACC this year? Not crazy to think it could be the Hokies.
3) USC is admittedly an outsider as of today. Purely based on pedigree, why would USC not merit a look at +500? They have the right game in the opener. Game against LSU. Win that one, and they'll be ranked in the top 12 to 18.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#47The SEC knows what they are doing. They know how to print money. With the playoff going to 12 for now. The SEC will prob get at lest 4 teams in. You can lose two and get in. Might be 3 if you lose the SEC Champion game. The BIG18 is going to be real top-heavy. They will still get 4 in.Comment -

Let's assume that the first eight teams look like No Brainers. There's going to be some healthy debate for those L4 slots.
Just like in NCAA Bask, there is debate over the metrics. To be clear, qualifying for Top 12 is not the same as the Gambling line. That's completely different.
I do think that it's a nice revision. In recent years, the pool of four seemingly came from six teams 90% of the time. I could pick my Four in August and be right on 3/4.
...The L6 will be very intriguing.
...I haven't seen so much optimism in the past from fringe teams like IA/WIS/NEB.
...This should be manna from Heaven for Penn St. If PennSt can't make it this year, Franklin should consider re-signing.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#49The Penn State point is very well taken. These playoffs are going to give the have-nots a real chance at winning. However, it will also give the big dogs multiple cracks at it. Just think of Florida '09, Alabama '13, Georgia last year, Florida, Florida State, and Miami in the 90s and 00s. If they had 12 team playoffs in the prior years it would have given those teams another crack at it.Comment -

#54OSU is quietly recruiting a mega team. They are poaching the top players from many other top programs. They are freaking loaded with talent. Ryan Day is in a must win now mode. They opened up the coffers and buying players by the boat load.
Michigan and Bama both will take a hit without Harbaugh and Saban. It doesn't seem possible the Buckeyes don't make the playoffs and may be able to hedge a game.
$100 to win $500 or $1,000 to win $5,000 seems like a good bet, even though I don't like to hold my money up for so long.Comment -

#55Line is down to +375 in some shops. I really like OSU because of their favorable schedule. They have relatively easy games before their 3 big games. That gives them time to rest up. Georgia's schedule is pretty ridiculous. They could easily lose a couple games with that schedule. I expect the SEC to beat up on each other and fade late in the playoffs. I don't expect SEC teams to go undefeated. OSU should have a great shot. They are all or nothing this season. They're taking no prisoners.
1) Go back to my Klatt comments. Buckeyes have built a Super Roster for THIS season.
2) I can't think of a better setup to erase recent short-comings. Only negative I can think of = loss of WR Harrison. He was so much of the Offense last year.
3) This has to be the season to eclipse MICH. I'll go ahead and say that the line for Mich @ OhioSt will be higher than normal. Those teams won't be on equal footing in late NOV.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

My Florida Gators have the most insane schedule I've ever seen. Has anyone seen a tougher schedule in the history of college football? They play a brutal SEC schedule and then have MIAMI, FLORIDA STATE AND UCF in OOC. I'm not sure the Gators will win 4 games.Comment -

With this roster, OhioSt needs to be NCAA Semi-finalist (minimum). A few saving graces:
1) MICH is way down. OhioSt vs Mich looks like a mismatch this year.
2) Even w/ this loss @Oreg, OhioSt looks to be in good shape to make the CFP.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#70Raiola missed a couple of throws, but overall the play calling for Nebraska was pretty lame.
The OC just loves throwing screens right into the teeth of the defense. Needed more creativity on that side of the ball, and maybe a trick play sprinkled in here and there. The defense did their job but the offense just didn't cash in their opportunities often enough.Comment
