i usually don't agree with protests but i'm with cuban on this. that's a load of garbage. if the mavs don't understand where the inbound is then you tell the team the inbound has changed.
These teams like the mavs and the suns who give up solid starters for stars, they start losing because they don't have depth...so instead of pointing the finger at themselves and realizing they suk, they can't do that, so they just start complaining about referees all the time. suns booker has been complaining all game every game. coach here takes a minute to spend the entire postgame complaining about referees.

monty williams: "our bench had no free throws. it's old".
everyone knows your bench now SUX. even with durant, booker, ayton, paul, you have a chug out a nonstarter, and the bench is full of guys that either a. can't play defense b. can't score c. washed
kevin durant the complete idiot for agreeing to a trade to a suns team that gave up 2 regular starters and have a 38 year old point guard and few draft picks

How the fukk does not a single Mavs player or coach not realize that they're defending the wrong side of the court?

refs screwed that up.... called it three ways, I agree with van gundy's assessment, the refs blew that scenario, and given they caused the confusion, they should have brought the mavs back up the court upon realizing the mavs clearly thought they were to be in possession after the break.
kind of reminded me of that one year when, back in the day, the Aggies and Longhorns were squaring off in College Station. Someone lit a fire cracker on the Longhorns sideline, and they thought that was the gun ending the first half, so they left the field and headed into the locker room. 13 plays later, the Aggies scored......

it was a great game other than that....... and the last 1.-whatever seconds when the mavs couldn't tie it right under the basket..... first nba game I've watched more than ten minutes of all season, and truly enjoyed it. Only wish Kyrie had been on the court. Hardy impressed the shit out of me, Luka's assists were phenomenal, and dremond was better than I ever remember him being. Not having a dog in the hunt, I was able to really enjoy the game, tho I did find myself kind of pulling for the Mavs due to my texas connection (usually hate them each year if the rockets are competitive, but that hasn't been the case for a couple of years now)....

looks more like the suns either get the play-in or get the warriors, given george's injury
good luck with the suns defending steph curry or klay. they have 0 people on that team that can effectively defend either guy.

That's true Donkster, but if the mavs thought it was their ball why weren't they going to that side to inbound the ball

I have to find the refs name... it's his 3rd year in the league... and he is absolutely the worst official I've seen in 20 years. Kerr was questioning his calls... Kidd was questioning his calls... and he's to blame for the screw up in which Cuban is protesting.

Im confused.
Ref called it GS ball, then called a Mavs timeout.
But the refs told the Mavs it would be their ball?
But then the Mavs aren't under the basket to inbound. In fact, why are all the Mavs on the other side of the court? No matter who you think is inbounding, why is your team on the other side of the court?
What was the expectation there?
I guess it boils down to what the refs said and if they did say something, they said it to the coaches.
But Cuban seems to be in the know. Is he talking to the coaches and team?
Is there a protest here? Did the refs screw up?
From the video it looks like the Mavs are in a clusterfukk. But why?
I am so confused here.

I don't think the reffs told the Mavs it was their ball I think they assumed. The only excuse Dallas would have if they thought it was a side court inbound from their side of the Court. But that means they would have a player standing on the side getting ready to inbound it which they didnt

Yeah, whatever Dallas was thinking, I'm not so sure their actions make sense.
Could be a tough protest to win.
They can probably kiss that 10,000 protest deposit goodbye....

well they've been complaining for multiple games. so either all the refs are deliberately against them, or they have something to do with it also.

it wasn't just the mavs on one side thinking it was mavs ball
one of the refs was with the mavericks thinking also that it was mavericks ball. so the setup was screwed up and the refs should have noticed this, and got the refs and the mavs to the other side
it is what is is, as you said he'll protest but even he knows he won't win it. but he has a legit beef imo. you don't just gift a team 2 points over a misunderstanding from the referees
Of course Kerr disagreed
Kidd contended that official Michael Smith must have thought the Mavericks had possession because he was on the same end of the floor as the Mavs.“There was quite a few people out of position,” Kidd said. “It’s correctable, but you first have to admit there was a mistake.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said his first reaction was to question whether his team was shooting on the end where they lined up. But that reaction didn’t last long.
“When they were down at the other end, I had to stop and think, ‘Is this right?’” Kerr said. “I thought it was pretty clear that it was our ball, and that’s why I was drawing up a play out of bounds on the baseline.”

Thanks budwiser, clearly they were saying the refs told them they had the ball, now I see where the confusion can come from.

there's rules, and there's rules.
i got no issue with weed, no issue with cigars. but cigarettes are disgusting as f
so i had a cigarette smoker next to my apartment, smoking on the ledge i'm breathing in that toxic s. went to the landlord said this is no good. landlord said there's nothing i can do about it, those are the rules.
and so i said..
there's no rule that anybody can't jump off a cliff either.
that ended the argument. the woman doesn't smoke cigarettes near me anymore.
long story short, you do what's right. if you are cheating the mavs, but following the "rules", you're not doing it right. rules are intentions to do right, doing right is doing right.
ok done with my speech for the day lol

lol I was already thinking Donaghy. Funny thing is... this 3rd year ref last night... wasn't as smooth as Donaghy. Even the commentators said... aren't you supposed to warn the other team that you're ready to inbound the ball? This entire officiating crew was a joke last night. Wouldn't surprise me if he got fired... or a long absence.

So Booker, Monty Williams complain to the NBA they are not getting free throws. I mean you can't believe how much Booker complains these days.
And so...as of now the Suns have 18 free throws to the Kings 10. Which, we all know is the refs doing it because they complained.
But, they're down 10. If they lose, what's going to be the excuse this time. I can't be they suk and they need durant, who is hurrying back to get there by Wednesday next week (before his 3 week time frame).

Suns traded away cam johnson, now they don't have anyone who can shoot a 3 and play defense at the same time.
And they traded away Bridges, who played full minutes all year could hit the mid range and was their #1 choice defender to go against the best opposing player.
But they have KD who's going to come in on a cape and save the western conference favorites. Right?
Suns have a bunch of washed players on the bench, a bunch of guys who can't play both defense and shoot at the same time.
what a joke...
these gm's suk.

Kyrie is an elite shot creator and scorer, good on a team that can't score easily but can defend and rebound.
For example he would have fit the lakers. Def not the mavs. Def not after giving up dfs
