Shortstop Carlos Correa and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a 13-year, $350 million contract, a source familiar with the deal told ESPN.
The deal comes with a full no-trade clause but does not include any opt-outs, the source said. It gives the Giants their franchise player in Correa, who turned down $160 million from Houston last year, got $35.1 million in his year in Minnesota and now gets the most money ever for an infielder.

Gonna have 14-17 teams vying for playoff spots every year and the rest (with hot garbage owners) bending their fans over with teams that have no shot to win 85 games.

Crawford or Correa will play third. They needed a big bat and got a stud in his prime to be their franchise player for the next decade plus. I like the signing and besides they did get an outfielder with power in Haniger. The Giants are having a pretty good off-season but of course I’m a Giants fan so I’ll admit I’m biased.

He'll be washed up within 4-5. Massively overrated too. His production will be nowhere bear Judge. Not even in the same ballpark except for salary.

Solid signing. Farhan needed to make a move to save his job. Without this signing, attendance this year would average 15,000 per game. Now we're talking about 25,000 per game.

I suppose it's OK if the money is literally unlimited. Otherwise, it will harm them for a long time.

27 million a year compared to 39 million a year for Judge. The Giants still have money to spend for some key pieces. Not the sexist moves this off season but with Manaea, Stripling, Haniger and Correa it's a good off season.

Correa has a combined WAR of 10.6 over his last 2 seasons. He’s not Judge but the AAV is way less than Judge and Correa is 2 years younger.

If I was a Giants fan I would love this signing.

What has Correa done to warrant this titanic contract?

In eight seasons, seven of them playing for stacked Houston teams never led the league in any counting or sabermetric statistics. Not even coming remotely close to leading the league in any category.

He's stolen six bases in his last six seasons.

This is what he does well, he gets on base at a .357 rate, by no means eye popping but better than league average, and he plays a solid SS, by no means Ozzie Smith defense, but solid.

Absurd contract for a SS whose main attribute is his fielding which will begin to deuterate in four years.
Jeter was just a mediocre fielder at age 34-35, Ripken, ditto.

And Correa ain't Jeter, or Cal, or Ozzie.

At age 35 SF will be paying close to 30 million for a 18 HR, 66 RBI, .270 SS with no stolen bases and slightly better than average defensive skills.

I think the NYY contract to Judge was absurd, but you can at least make a case for that money.
This Correa contract is ludicrous, beyond absurd.

And as a die hard KC Royals fan, this remains one of my all time favorite moments.

Correa isn't a big name. Guy isn't even that good. He'll be washed in 1-2 years. Horrible signing.

That's what they think. How much higher can these athlete salaries go? Is every solid athlete 15 yrs from now going to be a billionaire? F that. I would pay minimum salary for every player on my starting roster, and still get wins. I'd rather save 500m per year in salary to be a borderline playoff team, than pay out 500m+ and not evne make it out of the 2nd round.

You're crazy; Carlos Correa by himself isn't going to put 10k asses in the seats, not even a fifth of that.
