It's cause they fuckkin bust up the UK into all the subsets Wales, Scotland etc. How come in the Olympics it's the UK but for soccer tourneys they break it up? Makes no sense. Either keep it UK or break it up for every sports competition. The Olympics, Tour we France etc. It would be like if they broke USA up into Northeast, Southeast etc. for the soccer tourneys. Makes no sense.

There's at least SOME truth to what you say. Back then, when you attained rights to host the World Cup...it came with significant fringe benefits.

Host Nation results back in the 1960s/1970s were pretty awesome. Even go forward from there. My biggest expose on the World Cup host nation favoritism was South Korea in 2002.

I swear the refs were instructed to not let Spain/Italy knock So Korea out of the tournament. Whistles that were illogical. Calls that had to make you wonder, go watch the tape.
