Does this mean if you’re betting with the book and not against it you did well?

Many pound bad numbers and root for their favorite teams.

Yeah the US books like FanDuel started playing parlor tricks like pulling live lines when they are going to take a loss and picking and choosing spots when they put live lines. They prey off people who watch games and put up the lines where the action could fool the players.
Last year they had alot of freebies not in terms of promotions but in terms of making it easy to win. Last year I know personally was the easiest and biggest year of wins for myself than any other year but like anything they needed to make money so they tightened up. Competition will have to get better to force books to adjust and get a normal player to have a chance at success

Dogs and unders are smoking, thus the books' profits. Be advised that last year the same thing happened for the first 10 or 11 weeks then favorites and overs did well.

The sports books are going to have big Christmas parties this year and the gamblers won’t be able to afford a candy cane

                                Captain Obvious checking in.
That's what happens when scoring is down.
Scoring is down 3.5 points per game on the average since midway point of the 2020 season.
Teams overall are only averaging 21.8 points per game, used to be 24.5 points per game.
44 used to bet the total points scored on the average, now it's 41.4.

When scoring is down, obviously dogs bark and the under covers.
