I came across this story from 2019 involving a woman who was arrested at a Russian airport with 19 grams of marijuana. She had a prescription but they said it didn't matter in Russia. She only got a month in jail and a $235 fine.

I blame her agent and her and I'll tell you why -
- You don't send Grindher to Russia to play basketball when tensions are extremely high and hostile between Russia and America like they were.
- You tell her don't EVER bring drug stuff into Russia either as the penalties are very harsh.
- Lastly Griner herself played basketball in Russia before and she should have been aware of the drug smuggling laws and she should have picked up a news paper and read the tensions between Russia and US at the time she got arrested were very hostile.
If I were any sport agent I would not send my athlete to China or Russia right now period. That athlete could become a political bargaining chip for your enemies when using an American passport. Common sense tells you this!

Laws are different everywhere, no matter how stupid you think they are!
If you take drugs into a foreign county you are subject to their laws, not your country of origin.
You may say it's crazy but it is going on in the USA as well.
In one state you can call a cab to go and get an abortion, in another if you drive a friend for the same purpose you will be ciminally charged!
Have some weed on you in one area of the US and you go to jail, in another they have places to legally smoke it.
