      last year dodgers beat out the padres for scherzer. this year the padres beat out the Lad's on Soto. difference being they have him for 2 more years at least

          He can build up the farm system again the next few years.

          I don't think he really had a choice, couldn't let the Dodgers get him.

                                    I wonder what the chances are of the Padres extending Soto?

                                    I'd say very slim given that they already have two $300 million dollar contracts on the books(Machado and Tatis)...hard to fathom adding another 400-500 million contract.

                                          The Dodgers, Braves, Mets, padres and even the Cardinals are all very good. I wouldn't be surprised if any of those teams beat each other and went to the World Series. Should be a pretty epic playoffs.
