Next year he goes to arbitration. With his "lights out" season this year, he's in position to demand the moon. Arte already gave the moon to Trout and won't pony up another huge contract.

Shohei is smart enough to see the writing on the wall and knows the Angels aren't in his future if he wants to win.

Be ruthless with the trade negotiations and get the absolute most for him. But you never know what that first-time GM will do.

            I absolutely agree with you.
Ohtani and the Halos have to do what is in their best interests.
Babe Ruth, Jr. can't waste his talents on a perennial loser.
            Let's go Shohei!!

Why would they trade their best player? This makes no sense. He sells tickets.

They'll trade Trout and keep Ohtani. No way they trade him, zero chance.

bombers do not need ohtani and especially do not need trout. They just need to give Mlb's "first half mvp" his Brinks truck contract and continue on the way they are going

Yeah, I think that's right. He's an all-star starter and an all-star position player in one. 10 years at 45-50 mil per. That said, it's such a big risk to invest like that in one guy who could get hurt and decimate everything. As it is, doesn't seem to be helping the Angels enough. Only a small number of teams could take this on.

imagine if Ohtani was doing this but a team that was really good. he would be covered like Lebron. ESPN would have an orgasm with every good start.

Not sure teams are willing to give up good arms for a guy that has maybe 3 good years left in him. Maybe, but I know the Angels aren't going to just give him away.
