Man who attacked Dave Chappelle on stage won’t be charged with a felony

A man who rushed comedian Dave Chappelle on stage at the Hollywood Bowl won’t be charged with a felony, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

The case instead was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for misdemeanor filing consideration.

“After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct,” a statement from spokesman Greg Risling read. “The District Attorney’s Office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes within the city of Los Angeles.”

VeggieDog I don't think you understand that last line. It doesn't mean misdemeanors aren't prosecuted.

It means that the City of LA has it's own attorney for prosecution, like some other cities around LA, and doesn't rely on the LA County DA for misdemeanor prosecution.

Please tell you us didn't believe that misdemeanors just go unchecked in Los Angeles, that they just aren't prosecuted. That would be ridiculous.

            You left this part out:

Sources told the Los Angeles Times, however, that Lee did not brandish the weapon, but it was found inside a bag he was carrying.
So if you tackle somebody and they find a gun in your bag that doesn't me you attacked someone with a weapon.

1 party government has its most blatant downside....

It gets to pick winners & losers, it gets to apply justice unequaled and unprotected, as it deems fit, absent the rule of law

what if he had a bomb in his backpack, but he didn't use it? How dumb are you pavvy? If I sprinted on stage and form tackled Dave Matthews this summer I'd expect to be in jail for months, banned for life, huge fine, huge lawyer fees, and felony charges.

Are you saying that a bomb is the same as a fake gun? They have to charge him with the law says. A bomb is an explosive device.

                          guy will do some time

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer announced later on Thursday that he has filed four charges against the suspect, 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, who was detained after the incident.

Lee has been charged with battery, possession of a weapon with intent to assault, unauthorized access to the stage area during a performance and commission of an act that delays the event or interferes with the performer, his office announced in a press release.
“This alleged attack has got to have consequences … My office takes protecting public safety extremely seriously, and we are going to vigorously prosecute this case,”

Attacking another adult typically is not a felony unless a weapon is utilized.

George Gascon might be the worst DA in the history of the institution.

                                    Unreal.

Sherriff is tired of sending arrests to the DA and the DA just letting them walk.

They are trying to recall the County DA, Gascon, and have over 400k in signatures, they need more then 565k signatures by the first week in July.

They could very well get them and get the recall on the ballot.
