How many years have the Leafs blown series despite being favorites. How many years have the Candadiens never made it to the Stanley Cup. The Flames have flamed out despite great regular season records. The Jets, they exist in New York too, and both of them are just as bad.
If a Canadian team is a dog, sure try it. But as favs? The general rule is, don't play Canadian teams as favorites. You woulda made $ fading them over the years. This year, the Raptors are neither, so imo you stay off the Sixers-Raptors series.
If Kawhi Leonard wasn't a free agent looking to make as much fame and ca$h as possible, my guess is the Raptors never come close to a title. Kawhi got out of Toronto almost immediately after the title run-he said almost nothing about returning there. The taxes for pro athletes are horrendous in Canada-NBA players go there if they have to. Non-residents of Canada have to pay a 15% tax-granted it is capped if too much of the player's salary is taken out, but if you live in a low-tax state that is horrendous to deal with.
Bottom line, strange atmosphere, strange results. As a rule. (Every situation different and you take into account everything).

When you win, nobody questions anything. But when you don’t win, everything is scrutinized. The Toronto Raptors have gone from NBA bottom-dweller to fun upstart team to playoff punchline in the less than a decade.
Never mind that they have had the best record in the East in the last three seasons or that they have steadily increased their win totals and have a deep and talented roster. They keep losing in the playoffs! And in dramatic fashion. Last season was the exclamation mark to what has been the Raptors’ notorious MO: playoff choking. They became the first number-one seed to get swept before the conference finals. Coming into the series, they were favoured by oddsmakers to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then, heartbreak struck once again.
There were plenty of memes and misery to go around. But even more, there were excuses.
Raptors fans either dread the postseason, expecting another gut-punch of an ending or continue to ponder why one of the NBA’s top teams consistently underperform in the spring.

The Cleveland Cavaliers proved once again to be the postseason nemesis for the Toronto Raptors. For the third straight season, the Cavs eliminated the Raptors, this time doing so in a sweep in the second round. This time around, the Raptors even had the No. 1 seed, but it still didn't matter, as the Cavs' sweep gave them 10 straight wins in the playoffs over the Raptors. The clinching Game 4 was an absolute blowout, with the Cavs winning by 35 behind another stellar performance from LeBron James.

That is something, beating the Raptors 10 games in a row, despite being the #1 seed.
