His agent confirmed to the Athletics that he passed away in his parents home in Southern California. Bit poor form for Wikipedia to assume it was solely because of drug use without any actual info (yet?) but no doubt it may have been a contributing factor.

Probably was dealing with depression, was using hard drugs to mask it, and accidentally O.D. Happens to many, unfortunately.
