Deserved.
I just wrote a piece (I'll tell you where if the mods allow a link)
To those who say "he was just a DH" I say true.
Having said that, DH's hit, don't field, pitchers pitch, but don't bat.
As long as pitchers are eligible for the Hall of Fame, so are DH's.
If I had a vote, sadly I don't, but if I did my first criteria would be "did he dominate his position in the era he played in.
Was Ortiz the elite DH of his generation?
My answer is a resounding yes!
No brain first ballot yes.
In no particular order, Molitor, Ortiz, and Edgar were the greatest at what they did, that being DH.

(Operative words being 'at the time')
Too many question marks and unanswered questions regarding Ortiz and steroid allegations.
Andy Pettitte tested positive.
He was administered steroids by a certified MD to assist in the recovery of an injury.
And Pettitte, his doctors, and his business team (agents) informed MLB of what and why.
That is a non-debatable fact.

Like Costas and company were saying on Mlb Network. Bonds is a proven roid user. Ortiz? there is no proven abuse by him.
But many have a grudge against Bonds for using the "juice" and then passing the Hammer. they even went so far to say if Bonds had not passed the beloved Hank?
Then bonds would likely be in today, on his last chance to dance

Bonds didn't even need the juice.
Word is (from multiple sources I 100 percent trust) Bonds was pissed at all the attention Mac was getting he started using just to pass Mac and Sosa.
Bonds despised Mac.

Summer-of-love indeed pissed him off. he had all the tools as a Pirate. plus the killer speed and defense. but he wanted to go "fat head" and "no neck" and start hitting 440'-480' homers all powered by the roids

Bonds never gave a shit about team.
Ortiz was a great clubhouse guy.
I've seen Ortiz at Fenway a good 20 times if not more.
The guy is hilarious goofing around with the guys, and God forbid if the two teams 'danced' at the pitcher's mound, Papi could be found mixing it up.

Ortiz's speech after the marathon bombing? that was amazing. well said Nasher, Ortiz was a true teammate and only cared about doing all he could to help the team win

I know the answer but just wanted an outside perspective. I've never in any sport stopped what I was doing to watch a player just to see the result.

Nasher I know you're a huge MLB fan... with all due respect... there was more enhancers going on for quite a long time... it even happened in the NHL with Doug Weight with the Blues....
There were so many athletes doing enhancers... we all thought it was natural. Here's the list of players off the top of my head who should never be in the Hall of Fame... and I know I'm missing quite a few more:
Barry Bonds
Sammy Sosa
Mark McGwire
Roger Clemens
Alex Rodriguez
Albert Pujols
I know there were several others... I was on steroids in my younger days.... and played pick up baseball.... I hit the ball much further and with more precision.... than without enhancers. Not only that... every sport I played... I was quicker... my decisions were faster... and I had endless amount of energy... basketball, hockey, football... you name it.
So... I can tell just by their physique... the huge Quads... Hips... broader shoulders... they were all on it. They tarnished their own careers. I wasn't even on the amounts they were on.... I was on a very mild dose... and it made me more athletic.

DH rule for the NL is still on the table.
Talks continued today.
Word from somebody live at the talks who I talk to via twitter says the union has taken a lot of their proposals off the table.
Unofficially the union is getting their asses kicked in these negotiations which is encouraging to me.
I'm not, nor ever have been big on the DH but I'm a realist, the DH is not going away so you might as well make it a universal rule.

I will never forget when papi started the feud between myself and Opie. Ortiz got plunked by David Price and went to charge the mound and was seen saying the word “pussy” over and over. I made a thread saying I liked his reaction. Opie came into said thread and said something about Ortiz being taught some manners and that he did roids. This was the year after his Rangers absolutely shit all over themselves in the World Series so I said “Well maybe your Rangers should of done some roids and you wouldn’t of choked away a championship” Opie came at me non stop like a little bitch with a rainbow tattooed on his ankle from when he used to get fukked in the ass non stop by members of the Rangers organization. He still has a difficult time not shitting himself and has to wear a bag like Joe Swanson.

Opie is an over-the-top Ranger's fan.
He used to ask me every year, "Does Texas have a chance, does Texas have a chance"?
I was like, "umm, no"
I hear ya Baz, I miss Opie though.

I'm just opening your eyes a little if you believe some MLB players weren't on them. I'm surprised they allowed David Ortiz in the HOF. Maybe went easy on him because of his ON AIR TV personality for a few years? But he was on them too. Now, don't get me wrong... he did hit many home runs off of the enhancers... but... there's no question in my mind he did them too. Again, why use them? To get an advantage. Did they really need to use them? No. But because word go out around the players who was using them... they said... well sh## if you're using them.... I'm going to use them to.
