Same as US Open. It is either political grandstanding or the government coercing people through corporations. At a minimum, it is incredibly ridiculous policy catering to people who let fear and emotion run their lives. At worst, there is nefarious, maybe evil, intent.

Tennis is a little bit trickier and different because the players are kind of like individual contractors and their own boss so there are A LOT of wheels in motion that need to be aligned in order for some sort of agreement to come into place that. Everything needs to go through them and be agreed upon through them. I was under the impression they were, with all governing bodies implementing some sort of freedoms for players who have been vaccinated who don't need to use bubbles, be tested daily or every few days or not wear masks or whatever but I'm not sure what's become of that.

Plenty are pretty open about it whether they have been vaccinated and plenty have not because they in accordance with their own country's medical guidelines (from what Medvedev has said) don't want to reveal anything about their medical history including whether they have vaccinated for Covid-19 which for the record is perfectly fine and to be honest not the fans or the media's business.
So because of the nature of the above we will never know what a players status is unless they personally reveal it, like some have done. Even those who have been coy but actually have it or publicly endorsing it but being coy about whether they have it.

Federer for example who did reveal he had been BUT is on the backend of his career and is likely as an ambassador/for his sponsors going to be jetting around doing stuff post-retirement so it would probably be beneficial for him. Also it is in his nature to be a people/crowd pleaser, and say and do the right thing regardless of his deep down personal opinion on things.
And he also has an infinite amount of money so he's not worried about not receiving the best medical care if he does have side affects, much like some of the other players who are opposed.

Right now it seems that there is no rush to do so with plenty of players coming from different walks of life, backgrounds, upbringings, religious beliefs, many poor and even if some day it does happen then you ask, how far do you go back? Challengers? ITFs? Futures? Juniors?
There has been little media attention on the players who have publicly opposed it like Rublev, Schwartzman, Isner, Querrey, Johnson, Sabalenka, one of the other womens, cant remember her name off the top of my head.

If it ever does happen and it is certainly not going to be any time soon we don't know what things will be like, whether they will be better. But hopefully there is more then enough data with the rates of vaccination growing that the skepticism will slowly dissolve and players will be open to it, even the ones that don't make as much money and are more reliant on their body to make money aren't worried about side effects.

Also to the above and Azarenka's quote. The decision to ask for proof of one dose was something that was implemented at the last minute on a backflip of a decision which was initially going to be no proof required and wear masks if you want. The crowd arent distanced obviously being packed but the players are for the majority of the match so it's not that surprising they aren't being asked to be even if there are a lot of things that need to happen for it to be universally approved.
