They already have Cronenworth at second base so this is for depth and in case of injury. Doesn’t really move the needle imo. They need starting pitching. Darvish is a playoff choker, Lamet is injured. Snell has 5.00 era.

Does Frazier pitch? Those starters won't do shit in the playoffs. Ya, they score runs on shit teams but when the bats are silenced do they have the pitchers to shutout other playoff teams? Fuk no.

Go ahead and bump this in another month if I am wrong but this team can score 20 runs or nothing. Their offense will have to carry the load because the pitching staff is not going to hold up as time goes on.

Mets for one. Shit Degrom has been out half the season and the other 2 starters that were supposed to be the other two top starters haven't even thrown a pitch yet. Mets have the 2nd lowest ERA in baseball last time I checked. Half the time they are just throwing no names in to fill in the gaps.

Thought it was fair trade for both teams. Frazier is a FA in 2023 and we all know the pirates are at least that far away. He was having a career year and needed to be dealt now in case he cools off at the end of the season. I’m curious what San Diego will do with him myself. Pirates sent 1.4 million to cover most of his salary to keep San Diego under the luxury tax, so it seems they won’t be adding more salary.

Eric Hosmer “has surfaced in recent trade discussions,” according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The motivation for such discussions seems to be at least partly connected to the Padres’ luxury tax situation, as Rosenthal notes,”The most recent calculation, provided by MLB around the All-Star break, has the Padres over the CBT threshold by roughly $2 million.” On a related note, the Padres had the Pirates pick up much of the tab for recent acquisition Adam Frazier.
