I'm not really taking sides here or anything but if using data over last 20 years as you posted, then 5 is less frequent than all other single digit margins except 8 and 9 (and 0) so it definitely at least used to be a dead number

I would agree but the Bears have not always played this type of defense. Looking at 2020 stats they funnel opposing offense to run instead of passing. I think Cook has a better day than Thielen and much better day than Cousins.
