If they halt trading they run a big risk of a society freak out. You have to remember a majority of the public are not intelligent at all, closing the stock market will make them think their money isn’t safe and then will lead to a run on the banks. After that you’re going to have even more dumbasses now thinking the world is going to end and doing Katrina type looting. Even though market is chaotic, for the people who don’t watch it, to them it says ok this is going to pass. There’s a lot more risk than reward to close the market
