#109geez could he have told them after last season when they had the most cap space and could of got an interesting replacement. Now who is left kapernick even if they told them last week they could of gotten mccown.
don't say brisset is a decent backup they won 5 games last time he started a year. I would of booed to I had to pay season tickets for a team before the season started thinking we were superbowl contenders to now if they start off slow they are just going to tank to get tua fromm or heisbertComment -

I don't think Luck was planning on retiring. Shit happened and he felt like he was forced to. I actually commend him for walking away if he was having little quality of life and lost his love for the game due to injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if he changes his mind after a year off and letting his body and mind rest/heal.Comment -

#113Where did this ankle/calf injury come from?? He hasn't played or practiced since the season ended in the playoffs. Must be a pretty tough injury since it's not football playing related.Comment -

#115Luck made about 97 million playing, but may have to pay back the 12 million roster bonus he got in March and 12.8 million of a pro-rated signing bonus spread out over his contract. He's gone be on the hook for 25 million.Comment -

#117Luck pulling a Barry Sanders and or Ricky Williams.. Luck is only 29 years old and says he not living the life he wants to live playing football. Nagging injuries and it's always been about rehab with him, season after season.
I guess I can understand that.. He's got millions saved up now and doesn't have the same love for the game anymore. So he's done.

There is always gonna be a few players in pro sports that make money and then become unhappy playing the sport and get out in their primes. Seems like Andrew Luck is doing just that..
Turning down millions and football fame to live a normal civilian life now.. He's padded his bank account and made solid investments I can only assume, if not he'll be returning to the game in a few years when the money runs out.
I'm sure these NFL superstar players will miss those FAT NFL checks coming in. That's a big income revenue for these guys that is CUT OFF now when they walk away from the game. The monthly Bills are still piling up and coming in as that never stops.

#124The Colts essentially are telling Luck to keep it all ($24.8M), even though it is within their rights to reclaim the money. Consider it a 'Parting Gift'Comment -

#125My guess it is a bonus for not letting the retirement news out until they got all the season ticket holders they could get thinking they had a top tier team. This organization is not trust worthy at all and they have history to prove it.Comment -

#132I think Brissett is better than people think. In fairness, when he took over as backup a couple years ago, the team's oline and defense were awful. I think the colts still win at least 6-7 games this year.

#133they were expected to not only win that division but also make the playoffs with Luck. if you think they drop off from that to only 6 or 7 wins, then technically you are saying Brissett is not good enough, since everything else is the same.

Brissett will have his chance now. I think he might do ok and I don't think he will fold completely and tank the team. Colts have a decent defense too..Comment -

#138I'd say it was a puss move, but Andrew Luck is one of these guys that is very smart and he'll do well the rest of his life. He never had the heart for football, but not many people do.
That's why Tom Brady should be looked at as the Babe Ruth of football. His longevity, brains, skills, talent is incredible.Comment -

It's closer to Calvin Johnson. CJ could still be expected play at a high level when he retired. Similar to Luck. Sanders/Williams were RBs and their shelf life isn't that long anyway.Comment -
