MLB Survivor Contest win $500!!!

Is anyone else interested in making this more challenging for the last 3 weeks? I have no interest in chopping 30 ways but I've heard people who disagree.

There are ways to make this more fun and prizes more substantial for those who survive. But the rules as they are written just aren't challenging enough (season not long enough I should say) so if most of us would like to gamble it up rather than win $15 apiece we could then ask spider to amend the rules.

start at the beginning of the year

win the week to move on (so 500 records are out)

I like the contest, it just needs to start sooner. If it began in April it would probably be over by now with the lesser teams coming into play. I think .500 or better is still a good rule if it starts early enough. These are new contests for SBR so I'm sure they'll be tweaked for next season.

like pick 1 team to advance every round cannot use same team 2x

No. You can't change the rules when the contest is almost over. Changes strategy.

I agree pavy. I said like 6 hours ago the same just was throwing out another idea since the topic is still hot on getting less winners

Still 4 more weeks. Will be harder as people used most of the good teams. Last week could see a lot of people out as upsets are very common.

In a single game, sure. But we are talking about a 6 game sample.

I wish everyone spoke up on the subject. I like the idea of extending it into the playoffs. But it's fair to say I would be supportive of any tweak that would prevent 30 people tying at the end, as much as possible but within reason.

The way you responded, you are not willing to gamble and that's fine. Something like this should only be discussed if at least a half of players who remain are slightly interested. I was surprised to hear Sams make a suggestion though it seemed like he insisted on standing pat on the original rules.

As to your 'changes the strategy' comment. It's hard to imagine someone making picks for months with the possibility of a rule change incorporated into his strategy. So everyone is in the same boat. It boils down to whether you want to take a little more risk (in a free contest, too!) or insist on a higher chance for a small prize for everyone.

Adding the playoffs resetting teams wouldn’t change the strategy at all.

I think this is the only change that, if supported by a number of players, has a chance to be used by the admins.

The reason is that they try to extend every contest as much as possible (I won the first High-Low baseball contest instantly, then they changed the rules to where tying Hi or Lo would not be a win so every other day there would not be a winner even if 100000 people made different picks). This makes sense as they try to use their contest budget wisely while keeping as many players interested in as many games/sports as possible.

So extending this into the postseason would be a nice testing ground for next year (hopefully) and would keep a few dozen players motivated to handicap baseball even if they weren't really going to do so after NFL begins.

If it started at beginning of year wouldn’t need playoffs.

I’d def be cool w adding playoffs but in the end it whatever. Think this all moot as i don’t think there gonna be a change., still several weeks, let’s hope for craziness!!

Maybe instead of playoffs the last 2 weeks you have to pick 2 teams a week?
