You can change the starting chips and the level duration/structure. Increasing starting chips is a pretty limited tool, while making blind levels longer really rewards skillful play.

From a contest perspective, doesn't make much sense if the qualifiers are a drastically different format than the daily turbos used for eligibility....but I'm almost never against more skilled formats around here, makes it more likely the right kind of people get in

I disagree for the fact most daily tournaments aren’t taken that seriously. So by the time the first break comes around the tournament has about 12-15 players left. So when blinds get high there are usually 6 players or so involved in a shovefest.

The last qualifier was taken so seriously that there were only 3 or 4 people out at the first break. So the shovefest began with just a little less than 20 players. At that point, you might as well do a random drawing because it’s all luck from there.
