Phillies get: Much applause from fan base, much publicity, an outfielder that wasn't moved there from third or first base..
Phillies also get a pretty average (percentage) hitter, some HRs/walks/RBIs, a guy who's missed about 1/5 of his career due to injuries, and temporarily more fans going to games. In Philly, the Phillies and Sixers fans have proven over time they are tremendously fair-weather as far as attendance goes. Flyers and Eagles sell out no matter what.

This just proves Harper wasn’t getting many deals - Scott Boris is a bitch - never came close 2 400 million - he’s auctually getting pay less yearly then machado and arenado ( also Harper can not opt out)

13 year deal with no option outs or trade clause. Very odd.
People thought he wanted to be highest paid per year, turns out he just want the overall contract to be tops.

Good for Bryce. He gave up his supposed prime years to get paid for his baseball retirement years. Not many guys do that

13 years is ridiculous! He'll be worth it for about 5 years. Then he'll become what Ryan Howard was in his late years. A liability in the field and striking out 200 times a year.

gives them a little more leverage for TV Deals. the last 3 become vital if he's chasing a record like Barry Bonds. shit was must see TV so I guess the value in that alone. Like that ridiculous deal Kobe got late in his Career. Was strictly because the TV network wouldn't have given them a deal if there was no Kobe.

They signed a 25 year deal with Comcast 5-6 years ago.
Teams with regional sports networks are not hurting for money. This is nothing to them.
Yankees do this every year & their geniuses.

At the end of the day Scott Boris caught the L - if they knew this was the market ? No way he wouldn’t re-sign with the nationals for that $300 million offer- that extra $30 million was what they beg the Phillies 2 give - to save the embarrassment

Alex Rodriguez's average salary in his deal signed before the 2001 season: $25.2 annually.
Harper in 2019: $25.4 annually, over 13 years.

Amazing how you can decipher the written word. Think I showed zero excitement. Probably even less than zero as these threads were merged.
Sorry youre going through something again.
