    Hello again,
Thank you SBR and particularly Lou M. He read the original thread and understood what I was saying. I must have not been explaining myself well as there was much confusion. He told me to fill out a complaint form. I didn't know that option existed. My whole point was to discuss a very obscure rule that had probably never come up since Bovada existed.
I knew the obvious rules regarding teasers. A 13 point teaser HAS TO HAVE FOUR TEAMS TO QUALIFY TO BE A BET. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS IT EVER REDUCED. I bet a 5 team 13 point teaser. Two legs rained out before the remaining 3 games were even started. Bovado said THEY had no bet. I was sure I had no bet also. How could I have a bet if they didn't. They couldn't lose a dime but I still had to win the three remaining legs just to get my money refunded. Outrageous. Who would know a rule about football rainouts. I've never seen a football rainout. Also, FYI, A 3 TEAM 10 POINT TEASER CANNOT BE REDUCED TO 2, NOR CAN A 2 TEAM TEASER BE REDUCED TO A 1 TEAM PLAY.
So thanks again to SBR for helping get my bet refunded.
One more point I'd like to address. I spent my working years in sales and sales management. So often during sales meeting some loud mouth Buffoon would interrupt the meeting, shoot their mouth off and rarely contribute anything of substance. Sadly you have one of those at SBR. Call's himself Optional. He berated me in this post with three long posts and couldn't have been more wrong. Does he totally lack any reading comprehension or is he just too busy talking instead of listening? He just continually said that a 4 team 13 point teaser could be reduced. He's a moderator. I explained the bet and rule to him over and over and he just never got it. He's a moderator. LOL. Wouldn't you think that prior to ripping me he would have looked up the rules. My guess is he still doesn't understand them.
Thanks for listening. I was going to just have Bovada send me my $100 and go to Heritage. However, I think I will just bet a teaser n the games this weekend, and, hope there is no rainout.

        Hi Lancy,

We should have done a better job receiving your issue. Happy that the situation was resolved.

I’d say from what I read he’s generally a good dude and means well, but definitely does come off as the “my point is right I’m going to fight it to the death” smartest person in the room Type from time to time, also have seen on a few occasions him not be the nicest to new people, but that too is probably because he’s seen a bunch of pretend new people with bad intentions over the years. Anyhow most importantly the correct decision was made, a book shouldn’t be able to free roll you, and you were refunded.

Thanks for your comments. Kind of funny the way Bovada responded. Acted like they gave me a gift. Please see their e-mail to me and my response.

              Hi Howard,

We're contacting you in regard to the settlement of your Teaser wager with Reference Number 1812934390171 that was deemed a "Loss".

We decided to make an exception and credit you the risk amount of $100 back to balance.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

              Regards,

              Bovada Player Advocacy
              playeradvocacy@bovada.lv

An exception is nice. I just hope you revisit the rule and fix it. I know its very obscure and may have never come up. However, to tell someone prior to games being played that Bovada had no risk or bet, but, the player could still lose was beyond comprehension.

              thanks,
              Howard

Thanks everybody for your comments. For me, its been fun!

You have to wonder how many people got fuked by this rule and stayed quiet, absolutely ridiculous.

I was saying the payout was specified as a bet refund, but only if all those 3 remaining legs won. Otherwise a loss.

Any book can write 100 rules and know that 99% of players won't read them and then they can enforce the rules and fuk the player over. Its just a sleaze ball move. Bovada is legit but they were clearly in the wrong here and didn't promptly fix the situation.

If books can write 1 sided rules and enforce them simply because they are rules that's ridiculous - and no one should have to read 10 pages and hundreds of rules to know what the rules are when they are ridiculous.
I don't think the rule was unfair or hidden away anywhere (did you even look before saying that?).

In fact it appeared 100% logical to me. Still does.

But if Bovada say their rule was bad, I was wrong, I guess.

Oh come on, I've used bovada before, their rules like any sportsbook's require clicking on small links at the bottom of the page and reading pages, everyone knows 99.9% of bettors won't do this. The bovada rule, I have no issue with bovada in general, honest and fast paying, is a one sided rule.

You're being harsh on them Thomorino. The rules were clearly written.

If someone does not look for the rules on what a "sweetheart teaser" is before betting, does not look for the rules before contacting support to complain, does not read the rules after being told they are wrong by the book, does not read the rules before starting this thread...

Is the size of the link really the problem causing the player to not know the rules here?

And in terms of the rules being one sided. Let's say the first game on the OPs teaser ticket was a game that lost, instead of a game that was cancelled. Would you still be thinking it was graded unfairly?

What if the first three games all lost, and then the Boise State game was called off. Would you be thinking the same way right now?

I think it is just that it "feels bad" that that first game had both voids, and I can see why. But betting rules need to apply to all situations.

I notice that Bovada have not told him the rule is bad or that he is correct btw.

Oh come on, of course Bovada isn't going to admit the rule is wrong, because that because that would require them to change the rule.

                                1. 3 team 10 points and 4 team 13 points Sweetheart Teasers never reduce. A ‘No Action’ result in a 3 team 10 points or 4 team 13 points Sweetheart Teaser will result in the entire wager being settled as ‘No Action’, provided all remaining legs are settled as a ‘Win.’
                                2. A 4 team 10 points and any 5-10 Team Sweetheart Teaser will reduce with a ‘No Action’ result and your odds will be adjusted accordingly. Sweetheart Teasers with multiple ‘No Action’ results may be subject to rules 1 and 2.
                                3. A ‘Push’ in any Sweetheart Teaser will result in the entire wager being settled as a ‘Loss.’
                                4. A ‘Loss’ in any leg of a Sweetheart Teaser will result in the entire wager being settled as a ‘Loss.’
                                5. For Cross-Sport Sweetheart Teasers, the payout will be determined by the table with the lower value. For example:
If a teaser has 5 College selections and 1 NFL, then the NFL payout will be used.

These rules when read together clearly create a situation where the book can freeroll the customer and make money if a leg loses but not pay them if 2 or more games rained out even if the rest of the legs win - any rule that creates a 1 sided outcome in any scenario is unfair.

I don't agree those rules create an unfair situation. What is your logic behind that claim? I already explained my logic on why the rule works fairly, and for some reason no one came up with anything to dispute that being correct in the 10 days between saying it and Bovada giving the OP an exception here.

Did you think about the situation where the first 3 legs all lost and then the Boise game was rained out?

Would that have felt different to you?

You say a one sided scenario is unfair. Who would be getting the bad side of that scenario?

Eh, you’re changing things that change it in my opinion. I don’t feel like a book or player should be left in a situation where one can free roll the other without any risk. Sure we can play the what if game about the order but it doesn’t apply. If he won the first 3 and then the rain out would he have gotten paid.

A 5 teamer should be a 5 teamer, if they accept both winning and losing action as teams fall off, tie, rain out what have you then grade it as a loss or win, if standard procedure in a 13 point teaser as that they won’t allow a win with just 3 teams I don’t believe a loss should be an option either. You clearly see it differently, I think it’s kind of odd, I understand the logic you’re truing to make but don’t agree with it, and think bovada also realized that it’s an error

Did you think about the situation where the first 3 legs all lost and then the Boise game was rained out?

Would that have felt different to you?

You say a one sided scenario is unfair. Who would be getting the bad side of that scenario?
I just explained if you read rule 4 and 2 together its clear the books can freeroll players.

They also have the same rule on a 2-team teaser. One side rains out they have no bet. However the player still has to cover the other game just to get refunded.

Think about this. Baseball over and under 9 runs. They score 12 runs but get rained out. Bad luck for the over bettors and good luck for the under bettors.

Using the baseball scenario, what if the book said the over bettor's get their bet back but the under bettor's lose because they would have lost anyway if the game were completed. Seems very similar.

Yeah I agree, I don't know how you can read rules 2 and 4 together and not see that the books can freeroll players.

The book would pay him. Money back. That is a win in the context of this bet.

It's not a "freeroll" because both sides had a chance to win or lose the bet when it was struck.

A free roll means one side could lose with no chance to win.

He had a chance to win. And the book accepted the risk at correct odds.

Both sides had risk when money was put in play. If all his legs do not win, then the book should win the bet.

If it was otherwise it is the book side which is kinda sorta freerolled, as they would be the ones who only have a chance to lose and zero chance to win due the Boise rainout. Whilst the player no longer had any chance to lose. Not a fair and equal outcome.

I do think they are too generous with their bonuses and gifts to the general public.. Amazed to date that hasn't bit them in the asss yet. I guess they brought in millions of losing betters to support their bonus's and slot play payouts..
