Recession: Period of general economic decline, defined usually as a contraction in the GDP for six months (two consecutive quarters) or longer. Marked by high unemployment, stagnant wages, and fall in retail sales, a recession generally does not last longer than one year and is much milder than a depression. Although recessions are considered a normal part of a capitalist economy, there is no unanimity of economists on its causes.
Would the FED be raising rates this often for the past couple years if we were in a recession?

Nope. Not a chance. They only raise rates like this when the economy is on fire.
Now the preceding 8 years they couldn't lower the rates any faster. Hmmmmm... I wonder why

Who said tariffs wars aren't easy to win? Trump has them were he wants to. He will tank the economy until September 2020 and then it will start going up again to help him win the election. That's why all the people who work for keep quitting.

of the status quo coming from the plans of our big toe and there's
nothing wrong other than lefttards blowing smoke outta every orphus

The acting US attorney general was fired by Mr Trump in January after she ordered Justice Department lawyers not to enforce Mr Trump's controversial immigration ban.
Nikki Haley announced on Oct 9 that she would be leaving her role as US ambassador to the United Nations at the end of the year.
Jim Mattis, the US defence secretary, announced on Dec 20 he was "stepping down" because his views do not align with those of Donald Trump.
The former leading prosecutor claims he was sacked by Donald Trump in March after refusing an order from the attorney general to resign.
The head of the US Office of Government Ethics stepped down in July before his five-year term was to end.
Spicer, Tha Mooch, Bannon, Omarosa....
The White House staff secretary Porter, resigned in February 2018 following accusations of domestic violence against former partners
Days after Mr Porter resigned, David Sorensen, a White House speechwriter, stood down after his ex-wife claimed he was violent and verbally abusive during their two year marriage.
Hope Hicks, the White House communications director and one of Mr Trump's most trusted and longest-serving aides, abruptly announced her resignation in March, leaving a void around a president who values loyalty and affirmation.
Top economic adviser Gary Cohn announced he was leaving the White House on March 6, 2018, after breaking with President Donald Trump on trade policy.
President Donald Trump fired Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin on Wednesday 28th March in the wake of a bruising ethics scandal and a mounting rebellion within the agency.
And those are just the ones who aren't getting locked up. Gwen, Cohen, manafort....
The list goes on.
Apparently some people actually are tired of all the WINNING.
Nobody wants to work for this guy, primarily because they don't want to become incarcerated
He bankrupts everything, your country is no different.

That would normally be a good argument.
But the main reason many financial analysts, outside of CNN, have been writing articles for the last 6 months about fundamentals pointing to a recession is due to short term interest rates moving so high compared to long term bond rates.
There is almost always a market peak preceding a steep fall into recession each time too.

Trump gave us a tax cut and is renegotiating every trade deal with just about every other Country that has been reaming us and he's getting it done.. That's big for the future.. Completely stimulated our economy for jobs.. You people see a dip in the stock market and the world is imploding..
Take a chill pill Trump got this. MAGA!! Cut the guy some slack, not only did he silence ISIS completely, he was able to stop North Korea from continuing to test nukes and just about made peace with the North and South.. He also just passed prison reform.. Building up our military also.. Etc...
If you guys think Trump is doing a crap job you people are nuts and brainwashed by the fake news hate Trump always media.. You don't have to like the guy but he's working the job.. Fixing shiit that has been broken for decades in America.. Doing all this while the Democrats resist and the media bashes him 24/7 and while Mueller is probing his anal cavity...
I love the guy.. Great President so far considering what he was and is up against..

Not even Trump can stop recessions happening. They are an unavoidable part of a healthy economy. Like a pressure release valve to reset things.
And after 8 years of sustained growth he can't really be automatically blamed if a recession does come.
(same as he shouldn't be automatically lauded for happening to be Prez when the pre-recession peak hits)

Interesting recession. Been in end of year reviews all month at my workplace and there is one common problem....we can’t get material fast enough. Across the board - PWB suppliers, metal fab houses, ASIC’s, MMIC’s and so on. All have too many orders to process. Lead times are double what they usually are. These are 90% US companies. Oh...and my company’s shopload is almost double next year. We are also trying to bring in more capital to meet our demand, but guess what....most equipment suppliers are also backlogged due to high industry demand.
Yes we are in a full recession. In reality it’s more like the Wall Street crooks are up to their usual stuff. Manipulating the market up and down so they can make a ton of money.

Here we go. The typical Trump supporter. If this was Obama we'd be hearing how shitty of a president he is. Instead, Trump gets credit for every minuscule positive thing that happens - even ones that don't relate to anything he has done. While things that have a direct impact from his decisions are rationalized in some stupid way. Cool

Recessions are not a term to describe seemingly economic stagnation. Recession is an economic term with a definition. A recession is defined as two observed periods in a row of decreased aggregate demand (GDP). This is not the case. We are not in recession.
