While I know pitching tends to rule in the playoffs I have a incredibly hard time believing if you blindly bet unders the last 5 years you would be up much. I’d love to see the numbers on that.

I said this in a different thread and will repeat it here. I agree with the above posts but I believe there's more:

1. Hitters are fatigued by October. Teams that rely heavily on the HR to score are often in trouble come October.
2. Expanded rosters in September really help the bullpens by giving them a break, allowing them to be refreshed by the post season.
3. Nerves matter more. Everyone wants to be the hero. One can debate whether there is such a thing as "clutch" but we know for sure some players wilt under pressure.
4. Managers manage for one run. More pitching changes, more emphasis on small ball.

It's not that overs never happen in the playoffs. They just aren't predictive.

Based off those numbers provided by getch it was as I suspected. Despite our perception of playoff baseball being owned by pitchers it in fact not profitable to blindly bet unders, the last 5 years anyways. Gotta do these things on a game by game capping basis, there is no easy answer to be lazy and make money

After seeing the numbers for last 5 years how could you possibly think simply playing unders blind was a good idea??

Far as last night imo it just a matter of time till we see runs in any game the team tries to do that stupid “pen game” shit. I just don’t think you can plan on trotting 6-7 pitchers out and expect them all to be on their A game.

I like Unders when there is good pitching on the mound on both sides.. I'm a big believer that good pitching beats good hitting. That's all, I don't bet blind I just said it might not be a bad idea to try it in these playoffs.. See what sticks... May come out with positive cash in the end.. Looks like some years you would have actually. I’m sure it all balances out which why I don’t see any point in playing them all blind. Surely better ways to go about it, doubt I’d touch a under in this rox/brewers series, Braun just bailed senzatalia out big time in 1st. Braves/doyers could def be low scoring.
