They will, which is the main advantage they will have to offshore. 5Dimes and Bookmaker can't advertise on ESPN or NBC or Fox during NFL games where DK and FD can.

I remember Black Friday 2009 when the feds knocked out several big boy online poker sites. Offshore no longer uses the .com though, which is how the feds busted them. .com gave them jurisdiction.

On balance, players on DraftKings will be subject to a commission in the 4% – 5% range, while at the Westgate, the vigorish averages out to around 2%. The differences between the two books is rather alarming, with NJ bettors getting by far the short end of the stick

I was invited Wednesday night and I didn't even realize it. I just opened it.
The spread/straddle is too wide. -165/+140 for example.
I'm going to make a bet because they're offering a free bet on my first wager but I have no use for it thereafter.

The DraftKings Sportsbook debuted on Wednesday, making the daily fantasy sports-turned-sportsbook operator’s mobile sports betting app the first to hit the market in New Jersey — and further, the first legal betting app available anywhere outside Nevada. On the surface, pretty exciting!
Some recreational folks may be celebrating, but public reception has been lukewarm elsewhere and in some corners downright caustic because, like the FanDuel Sportsbook launch (in retail at the Meadowlands Racetrack) in mid-July, the baseball lines offered are just dismal compared to industry standards
First, just how many of its users don’t know that these prices are bad? Second, DK can see how many users bet the lines and cross-reference against their DFS histories. How many and what percentage of its users “invited” (likely MLB DFS players) will download the app are going to bet? They can then project how much of its database may download and play during football season, perhaps on -115 spread bet? The DraftKings run line pricing is more in line with industry norms. As evidenced by the dumbed-down terminology “Who Will Win?” instead of saying “money line” — they’re appealing to the recreational sports bettor. It’s possible the spread bets for football meet -110 norms and the money lines are elevated as here with baseball.

Do you think people who buy lottery tickets or Joe Schmo care about spreads? They are catering to the people where you literally have to shove something right in their face just for them to even look at it. These are the type of people who don't even know that offshore even exists.

Thanks. I wound up taking it multiple times on different browsers, and emphasized that they have to lower the vig to industry standards if they want to successfully compete. Maybe if enough people, whether they played there or not, take the survey, and drive that point home to them, they'll get the message?

I guess you will have no choice but locals or legal.
But won't policing move to the states now?

Feds interest in shutting down offshore gambling is gong to be zero outside of monetary transactions which they are not going to put any more effort into than now.
All indications are that the sportsbooks basic only interest is in football and possibly basketball. That is where they plan on making money and they have little interest in anything else.

US sportsbooks are going with the Bovada model. They will focus on the major sports. If you want to bet baseball and tennis, go ahead at bad lines.
This will satisfy 90% of bettors and the rest can do what they want elsewhere.
With the taxes and operating costs they are going to have, they aren't doing anything but high margin stuff.

The way this will work is you will have the US operations try to capture the Bovada market in the US. They will get a good portion of that over time. Then at some point when the taxes are low enough, someone will get more aggressive and try to get the rest by offering overnights and finally openers. That will probably take 10 years and probably only in New York or New Jersey.
For almost everyone in the US, they will basically be able to bet Bovada. If they want more, they will have to go offshore.

Yeah, but you don't realize that most people do not bet overnights or 24 hours. They only bet Monday or later.
These US books are going to have 24-hour odds once they go online.
The bigger problem is that they are not only going to capture basically all of Bovada's market but they are going to capture almost all of the Bookmaker/BetOnline portion of that market. That is most of the market.

They are going to get dented by the billions. They will still be around to take most of the professional action.
People will have a US account in which they make almost all of their bets and they will have an offshore for betting overnights, openers and higher limit bets.
If you are betting a Saturday football game on Saturday, you will just bet it with DraftKings.

Not once US opens for business. This is a whole new world.
They are going to be looking to get all the fat part of the market and they are going to get most of it.
In the first few years not much will change. But in 5 years, major damage is going to take place.
