From Japan pitching and hitting, Ohtani is his name!!!..

Blasted one out last night as a Angel.. I've tracked this guy for a while in Japan, he is special.. Batting .444 early on and pitched his way to his first victory already...

With two runners on base in the first inning, Ohtani flicked a 2-and-2 curveball into the bleachers in right-center field.

He's new here. Once the other teams get more video on him, he'll cool off. But as an Angels fan, I hope he does well.

very cool story indeed. But it will not take long for teams to get data on him and he then becomes a .250 hitter and average pitcher like most of the Japanese players that come to the US.

I think there have been guys who could have been stars two ways, but there's so much at stake, including money, that organizations don't want to risk them doing both.

They have a scouting report to pitch him inside.. It's apparently not working..

Puig has an arm though and I bet he could throw a 99 mph fastball just not accurately off the mound ..

Dude throws out of a cannon...

he played a few seasons in japan which is nothing like major league pitching he will be more valuable on the mound , he struggled in spring training they already made an adjustment got rid his leg kick during swing seems be working

This kid is amazing. Future Legend.

Funny story from last night, the kid who caught Ohtani's first HR ball gave it right back to him. Nice kid but stupid as hell - that ball could end up being worth millions depending on how good Ohtani turns out to be. They said that the ball in Japan would have already been worth 250k right at this moment.

Never worked with Ichiro, who became one the greatest hitters of all time in MLB. Lots of Japanese pitchers have been much better than average, including guys that weren't top level in Japan such as Kuroda, Uehara and Maeda. Darvish and Tanaka has been very good. Ohtani is the most talented Japanese pitcher ever, better than all the ones I listed above. He also has the best pure stuff on the planet earth for a starting pitcher.

This kid is special and it's undeniable. Whether he can be historically special remains to be seen but it will be fun to follow him along.
