#77My family has a strong military back ground and I also know vets and they are all offended by what they are seeing when turning on the TV to watch a football game.. My own brother is a war veteran and he can't stand what he is seeing happening with players doing this.. My Grandfather is a decorated WW2 vet and he's rolling over his grave right now I'm sure..
It's offensive to most Americans as they don't want to see the players doing these things during the Anthem before ball games.. I know I don't...Comment -

#84Yes, discrimination, the ugly thing that certain people dont want to talk about and change the subject on. They insist on talking about flag and country to move the goalposts, nevermind the fact that the athletes have said it has nothing to do with the flag nor soldiers whom they respect.Comment -

#87NFL Players Kneel And Link Arms During The National Anthem In Defiance Of Trump
Follow
New York Jets
✔@nyjets
Here's how Trump handled things:
After several NFL teams defied Trump, the president tweeted on Sunday that he thinks linked arms are a show of "Great solidarity for our National Anthem and for our Country."
"Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable. Bad ratings!" he tweeted, apparently misunderstanding that the linked arms were also meant to be a rebuttal to his comments.

The Pittsburgh Steelers chose not to be on the field during the national anthem ahead of their Sunday game against the Chicago Bears, who stood on the field and linked arms during the anthem.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told CBS told the NFL on CBS the team would not be on the field during the anthem "to remove ourselves from the circumstance."
"We're not going to play politics. We're football players, we're football coaches," Tomlin said. "We're not participating in the anthem today. Not to be disrespectful to the anthem, to remove ourselves from the circumstance. People shouldn't have to choose."
One player, Alejandro Villanueva, a veteran, came out alone during the anthem.

The Chicago Bears were on the field during the anthem, most players with their arms linked. Before the game, the team released a statement supporting players who chose to protest.

"What makes this the greatest country in the world are the liberties it was founded upon and the freedom to express oneself in a respectful and peaceful manner," the statement said.

The New York Jets, joined by their chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson, stood with linked arms during the anthem before their game against the Miami Dolphins in New Jersey on Sunday.
Johnson is the younger brother of Woody Johnson, who owns the Jets and was appointed by Trump to be the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom earlier this year.
Christopher Johnson issued a statement after the game saying, "It was an honor and a privilege to stand arm-in-arm unified with our players during today's National Anthem."

Dolphins players also linked arms during the anthem, and several were seen wearing "I'm With Kap" t-shirts while warming up for the game.

#91For me...this subject is very tough to decide upon. I'm a Veteran who stood The Watch for 5 yrs and has had several classmates die, 1 friend KIA and another who lost an arm. So yes it pisses me off to see these protests. On the other hand, I have a decent # of minority friends (and wife) and can understand their point. However I ask them, and these millionaire players, what are you doing to stand up against the actions of the low percentage of people that bring down your race (i.e. Chicago/other troubled areas)? Until that is addressed, then it's hard to correct the actions against a select few that may have been wronged.
Unfortunately, until we unite as a Country. We will continue to be divided. I wish people could realize life is too short to hate.Comment -

#94There's a lot of protests and solidarity, but little awareness is being created because it's becoming about the method used to create awareness, and not the root issues.
There are root issues, but none of these guys are being activists, their just showing "solidarity."
The strategy must change or the movement will fail. They could get every player kneeling, but that alone won't change the problems they are trying to confront.
It's sad really, and the focus on the President is not going to help with any of it.
