Friday, concerns continued to mount about the Silver and Black’s move as it was revealed by the Las Vegas Sun’s Adam Candee that the team can only house 15 percent of the state’s legally required parking spots for a 65,000 capacity stadium.

According to Candee, who cited sources, the Raiders offered a proposal for rectifying the problem by utilizing around 80 acres (new stadium parcel is 62 acres) or 4,000 spaces, as well as a 42-acre parcel that was intended for mixed-use development, per Shutdown Corner.

The interesting part of the Raiders’ proposal is that they make no mention of paying UNLV for allowing them to utilize their land apart from net gains from parking itself. A fact that means the school stands to benefit next-to-nothing by agreeing to Oakland’s current terms.

Even more concerning is the fact that alternative parking (if agreed to) would be located there miles away from the team’s home venue, and it isn’t known if the team will provide transportation to and from, or not.

Former Raiders coach John Madden has already been on record that he wasn’t sure Davis was anywhere close to having a complete plan for their new stadium in place months ago, before going on to state that he would hate to have his team in Las Vegas on Saturday nights.

While the move will provide many benefits for the team long-term, the fact the Raiders expect free help from a local university seems to drive home Madden’s statements in definitive fashion.
