Any reason why we are supposed to dislike Russia so much as Americans?

Seems to be a general problem amongst some people with Trump wanting to have a friendly and normal relationship for the US and Russia

Ill take Russia as our partners over most countries out there...Strong, Know how to deal with terrorism, and don't take shit

I bet you never said or asked such before it came out of Trump's mouth though. That is the problem. Why cant people think for themselves. Whatever Trump says previous themes are thrown out the window. You guys didnt care about a wall or illegal immigrants either before Trump starting talking about them.

After Hillary called Putin a Hitler a few years back, I really cannot imagine any (productive or not) political discussions between those two in the future. The mistakes that she makes at almost every turn are mind-boggling. Does American public really believes that she's ready to be the next President or most people just vote for her, because they don't want to see Trump take over the White House?

At the end of the day, asking to choose between Trump and Clinton is rather like being asked to decide between death by garrotting or death by impalement - tough choice in either case and with an unpleasant ending either way.

August 02, 2016, 10:02 am Two conventions, two speeches, two examples of media hypocrisy

                                        Two conventions, two speeches.

First the Republican version, then the Democratic side.

On the GOP stage, you have a grieving mother, Pat Smith, angry with Hillary Clinton over her handling and explanation to her over the 2012 Benghazi terror attack that left her son dead along with three other Americans.

At the Democratic event, there's a grieving father, Khizr Khan, angry with Donald Trump over his immigration proposal that includes enhanced vetting and screening of those coming to the U.S. from Muslim countries.

After Smith's remarks, the reaction — particularly from the left — is one of outrage.

Here's what MSNBC's Steve Benen said of Smith's remarks in writing for Rachel Maddow's blog on July 19:

Benen's lead: "I’ve been watching major-party conventions for a long time," he wrote "This was probably the lowest point a party has reached in my lifetime," adding shortly after, "It was a spectacle so offensive, it was hard to even comprehend."

Benen's close: "Imagine if the Democratic National Convention invited several people, including grieving family members, to spread obvious falsehoods and conspiracy theories about the Republican administrations? Democrats would be seen as fanatics lacking in the seriousness of purpose necessary to govern."
Fast forward ten days later to the Democratic National Committee's convention in Philadelphia and Benen's reaction to Khan's speech:

Benen's lead: "The timing was almost certainly coincidental, and yet, somehow perfect. Last night, Donald Trump campaigned in Iowa, where he assured voters he’s right about bringing back torture and blocking refugees fleeing terrorist violence. And right around the time those remarks were uttered, a 1,000 miles to the east, the exact opposite message was emanating from the floor of the Democratic National Convention."

Benen's close: "Americans heard from quite a few high-profile speakers at the two major-party conventions, but when it comes to sheer emotional weight and resonance, no one topped Khizr Khan."

If that isn't the most blatant illustration of how two similar stories can be presented in two entirely different ways when seen through a blindly partisan lens, I don't know what is.

There are plenty of examples of the sheer, almost sad, hypocrisy in this case — simply Google away. But CNN's Josh Rogin (also a Washington Post columnist) gets the easy nod for runner-up:

Rogin Tweet on July 19 at the RNC:
Rogin Tweet on July 31 after the DNC, complete with dramatic photo:As for overall reaction, here's an eye-popping stat via the conservative Media Research Center on network coverage of the Smith and Khan speeches:

As of Monday evening, the broadcast networks of ABC, CBS and NBC have dedicated 55 minutes and 13 seconds of airtime to stories around the Khan speech. In contrast, Smith's RNC speech has received just 70 seconds of total airtime of coverage.

We've seen this movie before more than a decade ago in 2005. Cindy Sheehan — who, like Khan, lost her son in Iraq — camped outside President George W. Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, demanding a meeting with the then-commander in chief. Her protest lasted a full month and gained national attention, with prominent media members even dispatched to Crawford for interviews.

Three years later in 2008, Sheehan spoke at the Democratic National Convention, blasting Bush as a war criminal responsible for the death of her son.

These parents all have every right to grieve, to mourn, to vent. But when "journalists" like the hopelessly biased Steve Benen and Josh Rogin slam one party for featuring one and cheer another for offering the same exact stage, it tells you why almost nobody respects or trusts the media anymore.

A good question for Khizr Khan that no one seems to ask is why he waited for POLITICAL CONVENTION to make his case unlike the Benghazi parents.

Gonzer just can't let it go. I am neither left nor right, yet I can plainly see that Pat Smith has nothing to be angry with Hillary about. It is like this woman has been told over and over again that she should blame Hillary for her sons death, but she can't give an answer why. Nobody can!

Hillary speculated that a video mocking Muhammad that was causing protests all over the Mideast could have caused the Benghazi attack or it could have been a terrorist attack.... in her words, really, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

She was wrong about the video--maybe she wasn't. One of the people involved said the video did play into their decision to attack.

Trump in the other hand called for a ban on all Muslims entering the country. Kahn was absolutely right in his speech--Muslims and all other races, religions, genders ,etc have given their lives for this country. You think if there was a ban on Muslims entering the country Kahn's son would have ever signed up for service?

Did Kahn stand up there and blame Trump for the death of his son? No. He just told him he needs to read the Constitution, as he does. He told him he has sacrificed nothing, and he hasn't.

Let it go Gonzer. You are showing your ass. Base racists cannot be intellectuals on the fringe.

A spokeswoman for Donald Trump has blamed Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the 2004 killing of U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan in Iraq - even though the death occurred more than four years before Obama became president.

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer Tuesday evening, Katrina Pierson said, "It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagements that probably cost his life."

He could have been talking about the B61 mod....you do realize we have precision nukes now that aren't like the WW2 mass scale bombs right? The advisor needs to clarify since to the ignorant public who only think of 80 year old weaponry vs what Obama has even asked to be developed and Saudis have them and have used in Yemen recently and other areas in the region. It's more to a "nuke" than the generic terms.

That said...if Trump was indeed talking about an old school scorched earth then absolutely not but I'll comment if it's expanded upon.

I knowreading wasn't your strongest asset. They are not even the same.In the smith she was blaming hillary for her sons death. Which benghazi committee agreed they couldn't get there in time. Mr. khan is saying with trumps vision his child wouldn't of had the chance to serve this country. also back to patty smith assertion; cia operative are known that it is a dangerous job. usually more so than the military because of being behind being a D.O.
