I don't think you understand the range and firepower of assault weapons. A security guy with a Glock is not going to stop a 30 round machine gun. The police SWAT team was the one who took him out. So unless you have SWAT teams stationed outside soft targets you are not going to stop this.

#320Seems that this may have more of a homophobia attack.
And he bought a long gun within the last week.
Omar Mateen, identified as the gunman who killed about 50 people and injured at least 53 at a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, pledged his support for ISIS and invoked the names of the Boston marathon bombers in 911 calls made amid his attack on the crowded venue, according to the FBI. Ronald Hopper, FBI assistant special agent in charge, in a news conference Sunday confirmed the shooter’s references to the terrorist network. Hopper also said the FBI is not pursuing a second suspect at this time.Comment -

#324WTF are you blaming the weapons for? Its the PEOPLE firing the weapons that are the problem. These crazy Muslims are at war, and they don't need machine guns to kill as many people as they want to kill. They can use pipe bombs, hijackings, car bombs, kidnappings, beheadings, anything they can think of to cause destruction.
I'd be way more concerned about chemical warfare being unleashed here, than guns. If this club had any security at all, they could have had one of their armed security guards kills this guy. Or they could have had metal detectors in the club. I don't know if they did or didn't, but they should.
You are proving my point. You know why we don't see many chemical attacks? Because most people do not have access to the chemicals required. Now, imagine if you could go to your local home depot and pick up pipe bombs or Methyl Isocyanate or enriched uranium what the fukk do you think would happen? Instead of 50 dead, you would have had 500 dead last night. The US does a fantastic job of tracking dangerous chemicals here. You can't get away purchasing large amounts of cyanide without every agency knowing it. But for some reason, too many dumb asses do not want us to track people purchasing these high powered guns. Get a fukking clue, it's easier to get a gun than to get a fishing license.
I am not for making guns illegal. I am not for preventing anyone from owning a gun. But I am all for reducing the fire power on guns and to have strict limits on what you can purchase. First of all to protect the gun owner because most people are just stupid but to also protect society because there's too many damn people with mental issues of all races and religions.
So I ask again of anyone that says we have the right to bare arms. Does that include anti-aircraft guns? Bazooka's? Do I have a right to have a chemical weapon in my possession to protect myself?Comment -

Here we have another case where the murderer got upset and was able to purchase an AR-15 gun within a few days of carrying out his mayhem. It's the same situation in just about all these cases, even on the streets of Chicago. Guy get's pissed and is able to go get a gun as easy as buying a bucket of chicken. Let these guys buy shotguns but hell no they should not be able to purchase AR-15's. Go look at all these mass shootings and this is the weapon of choice. These gun manufacturers are wolves in sheep's clothing. They are the real terrorist because they have prayed on our fears all the way to the bank. Wake the fukk up.
Stop the bullshit. You saying the weapon is not at fault is just stupid rhetoric that gives these manufacturers a pass. The manufacturers of these weapons of mass destruction should bare some responsibility. Imagine I go to a mental health ward and give everyone a gun. What if I gave 10 year old guns at school? Shouldn't I be a little responsible?Comment -

#327Cut the bullshit. You don't blame the weapon but without the weapon you would never have mass murders. See the irony?

My case in point... The crazy ass guy in Santa Monica that was arrested today before he went to kill people at a gay parade was caught because he purchased dangerous chemicals that alerted authorities. Why the fukk can't we do the same thing when idiots purchase AR15's?Comment -

Brooks, I'm not understanding what you mean by no guns = bombs? But I ask you again (maybe you can be more clear). Do you think we as US citizens have the right to own any and all guns? Do you think there should be a limit to the firepower/killing capacity? Do you think we should be able to arm ourselves with chemical weapons? These are simple questions.Comment -

#330Aren't you glad that we track people that purchase hazardous chemicals here in the US??? You don't see many Molotov cocktails here. Might help if we did the same with these guns as well, don't you think?

read the article. And what I mean by no guns = bombs is people are resourceful as this article shows. If the attacker last night used gasoline it would have been much worse. This was just a small club compared to Pulse. One cocktail at the door and people would have been in serious jeopardy to even get out.

These are copy cats. They see one guy do it and they think to themselves that they can do it too. If for some reason guys start using corn on the cob to kill masses of people, I would be all in favor of tracking every fukking kernel of corn. Like I said before, I believe everyone has the right to protect themselves but guns like the AR15 isn't about protection anymore. It's about killing a bunch of people. Track these mofo's.Comment -

#335Most of these guys are idiots. They have no clue how to make an effective bomb or what chemicals to use in a chemical attack. It would take a pretty large amount of gasoline to kill 50 people. He ain't dragging a tank into a night club.

That guy in Egypt used a molotov cocktail, I'd imagine that is about the most rudimentary bomb on Earth. The guy killed 16 in a small club, last night would have been much worse.
Again, you're right in the sense someone should be tracking this like if someone bought a large amount of certain chemicals which is why it is so odd how the FBI didn't have some kind alert system setup. The interviewed the guy twice, should be obvious if he ever bought a guy his SSC should be flagged.Comment -

#345A big issue is that the gun lobbyist do not want any tracking of gun purchases period. That's the problem. Yes this guy was known to the FBI and was interviewed several times but they had no clue he bought an AR15 a few days ago. That's the problem. This is the red herring the manufacturers do not want out because it would reduce their sales. We have to track gun purchases. If you are a law abiding citizen, why would you mind? The minute he bought an AR15 (which I think should be outlawed) we should have been all over his ass.
totally not true.
No one is against tracking someone who supports ISIS. There is no reason to track purchases of legal citizens who haven't been interviewed by the FBI twice. All you have to do is enforce the laws on the books. That is the NUMBER ONE mistake liberals make. Don't make that mistake mac.
and again, guns had NOTHING to do with the attack other than the weapon of choice. Last night could have been much worse with simple fire bombs.Last edited by brooks85; 06-12-16, 06:16 PM.Comment -

#348Less than that. My brother lives a couple miles from both places. He drives by that club on his way to work every day. His daughter has been to that pavilion many times where the singer was shot. My son wanted to see 2 Chainz who performed there last year. There was a shooting at a teen kids club a few months ago in Orlando too. This shit is going on all over the country.
People keep talking about how safe we are in Texas because apparently everyone is armed?? Bullshit. We just had a Marine suffering from PTSD shoot up one of the nicest neighborhoods in Houston down the street from me killing and injuring many. This dude shot up a cop car 5 blocks away. He was such a good shot he perfectly outlined bullets on the driver and passenger side like a target at a shooting range. He blew up a gas station hitting a fuel tank as well.
Everybody at Fort Hood is packing heat but that did nothing to stop mass shooting gunmen in 2009 and 2014.Comment -
