Fixing is illegal if an individual player does it to gain financially, but the league is legally allowed to "fix" games and storylines in order to boost the bottom line. Poor officiating adds the human element to this "rigged" controversy. The book about Donaghy shows how just a few calls or the way a game is called affects the outcome considerably. Kobe scored 60 points because he took 50 freaking shots, 21 3-pointers. He averaged 16.9 field goal attempts over the course of the season. Of course he was bound to score a boatload of points even with subpar shooting stats. No doubt the Jazz gave him a couple of easy looks too because of, well, legend.

I don't know about the mind-control stuff and magnetic rims, but I do know that was an obvious foul call at the end of the game last night.

It doesn't take much to rig an NBA game, these guys have like 90% shot rates when they're not guarded. If it becomes clear that you can't guard a player (Kobe) or you'll get fouled, then the other team will stop guarding him.

It's not billion dollar rocket science. Just some old-fashioned finagling.

And last night's game was another example of a botched up fix. The refs now have to answer to a last second botched call, but the Thunder STILL gave up possession of the ball. Imagine if Spurs won yesterday, the refs would've be REAMED today.

But you believe what you want to believe... 6 years of Playoffs wins is enough evidence for me.
