Oh shit Johnny you were a Vac truck driver ? That's a tough job man . I would not want to do it lol. The boom and bust cycle in oil can be very hard on a guy , wish I was smart enough to do something else . I had a BOP pressure testing company for ten years on the drilling rigs here n Alberta . But this slow down hammered my area , went to like 0 drilling rigs . Sold my trucks so I did not have to go into debt , to big of risk. Now I sell drill bits which is a great job , but it's all drilling rigs too . So may be laid off soon .

where else can we make big money with no education lol?

meh, chemE go with the booms and busts

90% of ChemE jobs in Oklahoma and Texas, so you really limit yourself to that part of the country

THere are plenty of ChemE jobs in other places in the US, but thats where an overwhelming large majority of the jobs reside

I was debating between ElecE and ChemE at one time, did some research on jobs, and that's what I came up with and it was the biggest reason I chose to not go back to school

I was a well tester. Would come in after the drilling rigs and after frac crew. I have a 2 year degree but the only big money around here was the oilfield. I did better than the other stupid guys who blew ALL of their money on stupid shit and are now broke.

Every 3 or 4 years oil prices either spike or fall...national avg goes up to $4 a gallon and everyone is screaming energy crisis....nat avg goes down to $2 a gallon and everyone is screaming about some kind of economic crisis for the oil companies...apparently unless gas is $3 a gallon the economy or the citizens are ******.

Get real ppl...the economy will not collapse at 2 or 4 dollars...big oil is not giving up on oil bc it's temporarily 2 a gallon and they're making less profits than they were in 2012 when it was 4 a gallon...it'll be 4+ a gallon again soon and you'll be on the receiving end of the "energy crisis" and blowing your paychecks at the pump so don't worry about poor big oil...enjoy it while it lasts
