Robinson Cano's $24,000,000 Salary Has To Be The Worst Deal In Sports History
Is there another athlete even remotely close?

I've been making fun of him with some of my buddies, but with a salary like he has, I'm sure he's laughing harder.

Look at dodgers payroll to people who they are paying to not show up. Brandon league and Brian Wilson to name a couple. Think they have over $50 million to people who aren't playing.

"Melvin" Upton's is the worst by far.
Last 3 years:
956 at-bats
336 strikeouts
187 hits
63 RBI
.200 BA
Makes over $14 million per. He literally can't hit.

As a lifelong braves fan I will agree with you here, something tells me Melvin owes his brother a little bit for the contract he got. Further hes so bad we dumped the leagues best closer or close to it at the time so long as the pads would take his awful salary.
But then again Ryan Howard making 25 million dollars this year is probably worse.

Wow did not know Howard is making 25 mil.. Some of these contracts are unreal. Pujols is having a more productive year but his contract has also been absurd. I would say Gilbert Arenas contract has to be high on the list as well.

Cano has GERD..
Cano was in the midst of his sixth All-Star season last year when he started experiencing stomach discomfort in August. With the Mariners in the playoff chase, he didn't get it checked until their season was over, in October. Cano said he was told he had a common parasite, which was treated with antibiotics, but he was left with acid reflux to this day.
Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano, who has been mired in a slump for most of the season, said he's been battling a stomach ailment since last August.

Still nothing like the NBA. Dwayne Wade 20 mill for a year is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. But yes notging will ever touch Bobby Bonilla.

teams pay these absurd salaries mainly because of all the tv money and income from other sources they get. they should all reduce ticket prices, way too much for the average fan. i cannot understand why a family of 4 spend around 600.00 to go to a red sox game just to sit in a halfway decent seat to watch a hapless team lose when they could stay at home for nilch. but they do it, even in september when they're 25 games behind and are playing minor leaguers. don't get it.

He might need surgery to fix the problem.

You guys must be forgetting Vernon Wells. Easily the worst contract in MLB history.
7 years $126 Million.
Final year of contract, he was released by Yankees and made $21 million sitting around at home eating captain crunch.

Verlander is getting 28 million a year until 2019,at least Cano has started to get it together recently, Verlander looks like a lost cause.

A true mystery of an athlete. Zero physical problems, just mentally went over the deep end and could not hit the zone. Played in the allstar game in 2011 and couldnt make a AAA roster in 2013. All after signing a 30 million dollar extension.

I totally make an exception for this as I have GERD to the extreme. I had to have a surgery called Nissen Fundoplication. It's like everything you attempt to eat or drink, you throw up. If this is the case, he might need this surgery. With all of his money, there should be no excuses after that. This year, I give him a pass. After that, he can't play any place besides Yankee Stadium.

Bonilla tough to top that's unheard of. But how about Halos paying Hamilton approx $75 mill to suit up for a div foe no less. Crazy how these owners in pro sports throw around ridiculous $ like it's monopoly paper.
