Coach they had a very nice run to the quarterfinals at the 2014 world cup where they lost to host country brazil. They are on the up and up in 'futbol'

Now after learning so much more about andres I think he got drunk and tired of hearing the insults so he started talking trash back and it escalated
That is one inside circle I would like to stay out of brother!
IDK.
He was not a smack talker, that's for sure, especially to Los Pepes. He knew those guys were straight gangsters. I really think they were sending a message.
But all bets are off if he was in depressed drunk mode. I could see it both ways.

I agree he was hunble and modest but then again when he was back home in medellin after the own goal, with his people out at a club and drinking. He probably got tired of ppl razzing him about the own goal and talked back to the wrong guys. How could he have known they were thugs? His own buddy even said he was very quiet but once he had a few drinks he was very social. When the liquor goes in, the inhibitions go down and even the calmest nicest dude can get out of hand

I believe andres went from extreme embarrassment about the own goal to probable defensiveness and anger when he kept getting razzed about it by the thugs/idiots at the club that night, probably because it was in front of tums of people in his hometown no less. I think it got to the point that while buzzed /drunk he mightve gone to the "do u know who the fukk I am card" and maybe "what the fukk do u know u haven't played professional soccer u don't know shit" card. An athlete can only take so much crap over an error made on the playing field.
No one has seen bill Buckner in 30 yrs because he got sick of being asked/harassed about the error in 1986. Donnie moore committed suicide after that sane 1986 playoffs and u know the home run he gave up had to have had something to do w his suicide

I wonder when it was filmed. A lot of the ppl being interviewed looked remarkably young still. Andres's girlfriend and sister looked very much the same as 1994 as though this thing was filmed in 2000 or something. Many of tge players looked barely aged so my gut tells me tree bulk of it was filmed in 2000 or 2002 something like that

Made in 2010 Homie. They stole nearly all the footage from earlier stuff.
The gunman shot him 12 times and shouted "GOAL" after each squeeze of the trigger.
Like I said, they killed him for scoring an own goal any way you cut it bro.

It was released in 2010. That I know. But look at all of the interviews. The ppl look so much like they did in 94. The filmmakers had to have conducted those interviews because there are too many of them.
Anyhow the shout of "goal" is alleged by some witnesses and not a fact per se. And did u see the docu bro? Pablo right hand man popeye says he got the inside word in prison that it had nothing to do with betting but rather was a fight that escalated. U think that guy popeye is connected and knows more than we do?of course he does
Very very plausible that the thugs had no intention of killing anyone that night but andres happened to show up and the razzing pissed him off and he started talking shit to the wrong guys.

Bro, they made this doc for 1mil max.
They borrowed most all the footage from earlier stuff.
If you think it took 6 years to make this you're just being naive.
There is no initial razzing without the own goal.
There is no story without the own goal.
There is no murder without the own goal.

Just did some research.
The Director spent 3 months in Columbia in 2009 and shot all the original interviews and garhered all the old footage during that time. Took them another couple months to edit it.
Total budget 1mil.

From a 2010 interview with Director Jeff Zimbalist:
"It cost us more than we thought to get the rights from FIFA to show the own goal footage, but in the end, FIFA loved the film."
FIFA is so gangster!

Thx bro, I enjoyed the research and I learned a few things from this thread which is more than I can say for most.
Homie your posts are well above avg and I enjoy your insight. I'm sure you win your share of wagers a well.
I can't emphasize the importance of the Own goal enough. It's all about the own goal.
The murder alone would be a very small and unfortunate, but not unheard of story without the own goal.
The guy scored an own goal in a soccer game and it cost him his life.
These two facts can't be reasonably argued.

I found my passport pic from 1996 when i was 21 yrs young and compared it to 2010 when I was 35 yrs old and its a huge difference though I only went from abt 165 lbs to 190. I'm 6'3 so pretty thin.
My pt is that most of the ppl in this flick are shown from 1994 footage then interviewed 2009. They look barely aged it's unreal

Is it because if you discuss it in public, you never know who's going to be listening?

You're talking about the one with 75 some episodes, right?
