I recently took off 2 straight weeks from sports betting, really from even watching sports at all. If you or anyone bets every single night, waiting for those 7pm games to start, I highly suggest trying this. You'll be amazed at how much more there is in life and how much more productive you can be when you aren't consumed by the highs and lows of the daily grind that is sports betting.
I find it funny when people claim that gambling has no effect on them, yet they spend the majority of their day posting on SBR. How do you get anything else done in life?Last edited by pattymayo; 02-02-15, 04:29 PM.Comment -

#359It really isn't about how much money you are out from gambling.. sports betting does much more to a person than financial ruin. For example, I'm certain you spend a large portion of your day consumed with sports betting in one way or another. Be it browsing SBR, studying the card for the night games, reading game previews, etc. There's a good chance that your idea of a fun Friday night is sitting at home in front of your laptop refreshing ESPN scoreboards and betting 3rd quarter lines. Your social life is probably non-existant. Even when you do go out with friends, you're probably sneaking bets in on your phone and your mood greatly depends on the outcome of a random meaningless NBA game

And i have a huge social life. I bet during NFL and NCAA bball seasons and then am off after that... so from april to.. september? Yeah. Other than maybe some little fun spot bets.
I just find it FUKKIN hilarious that people who claim to not want to gamble or who think its bad, still take time from their "awesome" lives to log in to and post on a gambling forum... like how fukkin boring can your life be? I come here for insight and to post my feelings on games. When im off and not betting i dont log in. If thats what youre doing (dont know if you are gambling currently or not) then i have a HARD time believing your life is so splendid.
I balance betting, a good job, friends, family, and a girlfriend and THOROUGHLY enoy my life.Comment -

#363Man I quit for 8 months, came back for the fall draw. I realized that I was out of control, betting is not a drug of course but the process is definitely the same as far as your brain, neuro chemistry, reward zone are concerned. I quit when I realized I no longer cared about whether I won or lost a bet. What did it for me and gave me that rush was the act of placing the bet- that's when I got the fix. If I won, I had to raise my bet to get excited for the next one. If I lost, I would raise my next play without hesitation, to more than make back the loss. Wasmaxing out with my local on Tuesdays, betting up to 5k a shot on a 20k weekly limit. It became the bet that gave me the excitement. Not the outcome. I was addicted to the risk.
Now that I'm back, I can tell you yes I'm having fun, yeah I'm down money, but I'm happier with the excitement back. It's an addiction. Better than snorting roxies, but in many ways the same thing.
Personally, I need the risk. Life is too facking dull without going for it.Comment -

this is why i hate having action when i am out with friends bc if my bets lose it puts me in a bad mood sometimes and i dont end up enjoying whatever if it is that i am doing.
and i agree man sometimes after you put so much into this shit and you keep getting these bad beats its fukkin exhausting!Comment -

#369All my friends have commented on how much more they like me, now that I have stopped gambling.
I'm more engaged & people around me feel like they're really important because I have all sorts of time to pretend that I actually give aabout them & their stupid lives & retarded stories.
Now we talk about the weather & Walmart sales instead of sports statistics & odds. Its a refreshing change.
I can't believe I was wasting my life before these two really smart, broke dikk fukks showed me what I missing!
I'm glad we have members who feel the need to impose their views on me. I'm easily influenced & follow nearly everything I am told.
Thanks guys

I noticed with myself is that I want my money to stay active instead of inactive.
To not let gambling consume me I place bets on futures instead of the daily betting.
Because with futures I can place one bet and let it ride for months.
But with daily betting it only lasts till the next day.
I don't have to worry about losing too much money with futures bets than with daily bets.Comment -
