    When was the last time....
All #1, #2 and # 3 seeds made it to the sweet 16. Probably never before and never again IMO.

I agree because basketball is a coin flip.

Very few of the posters here could imagine the possibilty/ probabilty of 12 of the 16 teams left all being top three seeds; not one of them losing (going 24-0 straight-up).

Yep, very strange indeed. I think the best way to think about it is looking at all the games these teams were in that were pretty damn close to coinflips, and they came out ahead every time. All it wouldve taken for one of them to lose was that one extra bounce the other way.

Don't think I've read anyone mention that yet HH, but considering last year was the first All No. 1 Seed Final Four since expanding from 32 entries, can't help but think you're right it's the first time for the 1-2-3 this year in the Sweet 16.

Arizona has to have a bunch of fans and bettors jumping on their bandwagon holding out hope or just playing the odds that one underdog keeps going.

Well, if you go roughly by the closing MLs, the chances of the top 3 seeds sweeping in round 1 is actually somewhere around 3 times in 8.

In round 2, the chances of them sweeping was somewhere between 2% and 2.5%.

So taken in tandem, the chances of them sweeping both rounds was less than 1%, around .85%, roughly. These are based on rough ML approximations.

east and south #4 seed made it as well. 1,2,3,4. if someone just doing brackets based on ranking, he'll be way ahead

Great post. This is something that would happen once in say 100-125 years of NCAA tourney play.
