#7agreed. any of the top European countries would slaughter them as Germany did in 2010. Its simply difficult to overlook Brazil here at home. Gotta think they will win it. If not them the only other 2 contenders are Germany who are always in the discussion and the holders Spain.Comment -

#8Netherlands always find a way to blow it! Plus their defense is also very average - Cillesen/Krul in goal, de Vrij and Martins-Indi in centre, Janmaat at right back, and Willems at left back lol

#12I doubt it, Argentina are traditionally strong starters but end up fading or choking in the knock outs. 2006 was a prime example when everyone was raving about them, then choked against Germany when pekerman took Riquelme off. Same with 2010 there was so much rave about how maradonna's passion and love for argentina would carry what was a mediocre team in terms of midfield and defence a long way, then again they choked too.
My money is on Brazil, at this stage i would say they are a far more balanced team than argentinaComment -

#17not underestimating them, but at the same time there is no point over estimating them neither. A lot is said about how messi doesn't show up for the national team in the same manner he does for barca. personally i can't see their midfield and defence to carry the team beyond the quarter finals, at the moment there are more balanced teams like Spain and Brazil who are bigger favourites imo. But the summer is a long way away, a serious injury to key player(s) could change the tide all together.Comment -

#18That is only on the basis that Argentina are the 2nd 'best' south american team in the competition which has never been won by a nation outside of south america whenever the competition has been hosted in South AmericaComment -

#27Colombia has a better chance than Argentina to win it all. It will be either Brazil or Colombia. Out of the Euro teams only Spain could reach the final. All others like Germany, England, Netherlands will be worn out towards the end due to the weather conditions.Comment -

#28Argentina is good but they always find a way to blow it like someone already said. Netherlands are the same way but I've always like their team so I will definitely be rooting for them.
My top 4 are as follows:
-Spain (no explanation)
-Brazil (dat home turf advantage)
-Italy/Portugal/France in that order (although I didn't list Argentina and Netherlands I still think they have a shot despite the fact they always fukk it up)
-And of course the last spot will be taken some wild card squad with a lot of momentum coming out of group stages. I like a few S. American teams like Uruguay and Chile and well as the blackies out of Ivory Coast and Nigeria. Watch out for Japan as well.
I like Brazil to take it all overall. Home field and an excellent squad is prime to dethrone the defending champs.
Many of these picks may even play each other before the Semis though so it should be one hell of a tournament!!Comment -
