Have you ever seen the in car cam of a car not handling right? It takes some upper body strength to keep that car from wrecking on each turn. Plus the car is well over a 100 degrees inside, so they have to endure that heat.

At average speeds at around 140 miles an hour surrounded by other cars doing the same! Have you ever been over 90-95 miles an hour in a car on a straight freeway?

If golfers and basketball and football and baseball players can be called athletes then nascar and indy guys who risk their lives at insane speeds should definitely be called athletes.

having risk does not make it an athletic sport
more people die driving a car going normal 50mph vs nascar speeds
most of these guys could not even swing a bat or shoot a basketball
sitting in a car and driving does not require much athletic ability as many many people in world do it everyday
