It started out with a $20 in play bet on the Colorado Rockies when they were down one nothing. They came back to win and cash me my first ticket in Vegas. It ended with two epic days of Poker
Everything else was kind of a blur, there were a lot of great basketball games and some pretty tough Overtime Beats.
Even though it distracted me from serious gambling, it was fun hanging out with my old friend Joe for the 1st 4 days. It's fun doing Vegas with someone who's never been there before.
It's fun watching them take it all in for the first time. Trying to play blackjack with all the distractions.
Remembering what it was like back in college when you learned you couldn't handle your alcohol!
It's always better with your friends
After my friends left it was down to business, yeah I threw away some money stupidly and I still tip the lot not. But things slowly got back on track.
I managed to win this after dropping $4 into a Silver Strike machine.
[IMG][/IMG]
I wasted a little bit of money on my favorite slot machine. The Silver Strike machine is the only slot machine I play when I am downtown.
I spent some time listening to some of the Freemont St. bands, gotta take time off from the gamble to relax & regroup.
But, typically it was all about turning $30
Into $230
...And turning $55 .....
Into $140
It's all just one big magic act!
We ran to some pretty strange people
But....we also saw some pretty cool tattoos
The Aces Cracked hand was spectacular,
As I played more and more at Mandalay Bay I was able to discern between the local Hustlers and the tourist fish. There was one local in particular named Constantine who was bald, I mean completely bald... He shaved his entire body but, this guy was cool as shit, and a very respectful player at the table.
The kinda guy who seems to have it all figured out.
I was dealt pocket aces in the big blind, there were 3 callers behind me. One of the requirements to win the Aces Cracked jackpot is that there must be $20 worth of called bets in the pot, I raised $2 for a total of $4 ( knowing that if all three of my opponents call there is now a minimum of $20 in the pot)
Now the hard part, I have to try to get to the river and lose, while risking the least amount possible. The Flop comes 10 9 4.
Of course I check and so does everyone else. When the turn card comes I obviously check once again and it gets checked around to the button who throws out a $10 bet, I call and the two players behind me both fold.
At this point I am praying that the Jack of Hearts on the turn help my opponent. The river is a Queen of Clubs and of course I check for a final time and the villain leads out with a $45 bet.
I snap call, knowing that he must have something that beats pocket aces & he looks at me kinda apologetically & says, "I hit the straight."
I pumped my fist & some other player in seat #1 says, "He has the aces."
I rolled over the bullets & Constantine who is sitting directly to my right says something like, "I thought you might have had the aces."
... but, I will guarantee you, he did not put me on Aces and I could tell that he felt bad when he was laying out that $45 bet on the river.
When they placed my $250 worth of chips in front of me, I tossed $10 to the dealer and $10 over to Constantine, who simply tapped the felt twice & we were on to the next hand.
Ironically that was the last Aces Cracked jackpot awarded that day and four hands later I was dealt Aces against my next door neighbor to the left. He was not able to release his Queens at any point during the hand and I took him down for another $200.
I did not tip him
Posted alot of losing sports tickets but came out slightly on top sports betting over the 9 days. Ever since I started doing this I have always brought American cash with me and that was my entire bankroll and life roll. Now that I have a credit card I find that keeping track of your bankroll can become difficult. Between the resort fees food and a couple of rounds of drinks while the boys were here, I spent $333 American.
Coop came through & paid me the resort fees in cash, then that becomes part of the BE & somewhere along the way you forget that has to paid back on the card when you get home ...blah blah blah
In the end I gambled well over $3,000.00 and came home with $950usd on top of that $3,000.00.
Joe owes me $180 usd.
but I owe $700 CAD for the entire trip (flight, travel, food, resort fees & tips)
Which by my quick math, comes to a realized profit of about $800 Canadian.
Some new things I learned this trip.....Comment -

#4677When you arrive at McCarran Airport if you are by yourself or even with just one other person, it is well worth checking out the Bell Trans shuttle bus that will leave every 15 minutes and will stop at only strip resorts for people that are on that particular shuttle. It is only $8. Much cheaper than Uber or a cab.
When you are leaving Las Vegas in terminal 3 section A-1 there is a smoking section where, after you clear Customs you can actually smoke and play slot machines.
This is a game changer for Canadians who smoke.
I also learned not to buy your marijuana from gift shops, it is very poor quality, you are much better off going to a dispensary, the closest one that is on the Strip is called Essences. It is a big huge giant green store just passed the Wynn and Treasure Island. Special shout-out to Chucky the goat whose $15 promotional coupon helped make me an extra $75 on the last day, also more than generous as always with the free meals. Chucky thanks very much for talking CFL and letting me pick your brain this week.
Oneunder, thanks for spending a day tapping the glass at the poker tables. Oneunder was like a fukkin plumber this week, fixing all sorts of leaks. It was finally nice to meet one of my favorite posters, Gaucho Jake....
Finally nice to put a face to some of the crazy stories I've read on here.
Had a great time Cashing tickets and drinking with old buddies who I don't get to see quite as often as I would like to anymore.
I will be heading back to Canada in the black once again, this is becoming a habit.
Next trips bankroll will be larger, the profits will be Huger and the experience seems to be getting better with every year that passes.
....thanks for traveling with me.
